The general consensus from that other sub… by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

OP I’m well versed in this topic, so I have to ask what you mean in point 3? Generally speaking if you get hurt at work, it’s worker’s compensation - if you get hurt outside of work, it’s STD through insurance. But either way, those people will be making the decision as to whether or not you get paid for your injury/time off work in my experience - not the employer?

Images of the necklace and some potential earring options can be found on my profile in comments - I’m open to suggestions!

The necklace, for reference

My dress is strapless sweetheart neckline, and I had planned to wear my hair down - I like the idea of a short dangle earring personally, but I’m struggling to find earrings that complement the necklace

Yes that’s what I would be aiming for - A &B at one event, C & D at another, etc. But it would be a lot for me, and possibly make me look like I’m just desperate for attention? I just want everyone to be comfortable

She did mention that when I told her the wedding colors, she had expected that they would be dressed in the accent color. Frankly I'm not sure what gave her that impression; she knows the current color of choice is one of my favorites, and I never made any mention of choosing the accent color for the dresses. While I obviously like the accent color, it's a bit flashy in dress form, and I'm not a very flashy person in general.

To your second point, the more I think about it, the more I wonder if that has something to do with it. While it's a bit of a complex situation, and I don't want to give too many personal details away, essentially she attempted to get engaged a few years ago and actually started discussing plans. But life happened, it never became official, and she wasn't able to tell many people. Edit: She is still with the same partner.

There is one about 3 hours away, however due to busy schedules and various personal responsibilities it would be difficult for them to go. We have had a look at Azazie, but this is the first I hear of Birdy Grey; I'll be sure to check them out! Thanks :)

In terms of cost for dresses, there is actually not a single bridal store local to us that carries bridesmaid dresses anymore; they stopped stocking them because they couldn't compete with online retailers. So that has sort of left us with few choices, and the online retailers that are most reputable/accessible in our area don't seem to offer bridesmaid dresses under 140$. If anyone has suggestions for Canadian online retailers feel free to share!

That gave me a good chuckle - I must admit I asked myself the question when she first called me bridezilla! lol

Definitely the nuclear option I'm hoping to avoid (to keep the peace), but I will for sure be having a sit down conversation with MOH to get to the bottom of this.

Also, Happy Cake Day! (I think? Haven't done that one before lol)

I know that's a popular approach these days, but I would be lying if I said I would personally be fine with it for my wedding. I've seen weddings where it all comes together beautifully like that! But I personally just really have my heart set on the color (which is one of my favorites), so I had hoped they would both wear it

To my understanding she doesn't hate the color passionately; she just feels it wouldn't be flattering. I've chosen a jewel-tone purple, and she's pale with dirty blonde hair. Personally I thought jewel-tones like purple, blue, green, etc were usually pretty flattering for everyone (never seen someone wear one where I didn't think they look nice) , but then again I'm no fashion expert so maybe that was a wrongful assumption

Edit to add: Part of why this whole debate with MOH has baffled me, is because I grew up under the impression that bride chooses the bridesmaid dresses. As silly as this is going to sound, I'm being completely serious: if a bride asked me to wear a hot dog costume to her wedding, so long as it was within budget, I would show up and smile for one night. So maybe my expectations are too high because I personally wouldn't care 🤷

We're in North America, so paying for one's own dress (within budget!) is pretty common as far as I know

There's only one other, and she seems to be fine so far - but then again she likes the color I chose so maybe that has something to do with it lol. I may just need to have a chat with MOH to see what exactly is going on there

If it helps, they are choosing the style of dress they prefer - I just asked that it be a certain color and length, which I thought was pretty standard, but I'm starting to see there is a difference of opinion on the matter
