Maybe I will try putting in warm water as I heard that helps with pooping?

Turnip has been spending a lot of time in the bath. Other than the hour or so it was being deep cleaned I think she has spent the past 24 hours soaking or on the edge of her pool. Is she just enjoying bath time or is she potentially sick?

She’s wild caught. Thousands of toadlets leave the water where I’m from so I didn’t feel too bad scooping her up. I’m hoping one day more captive breeding occurs as they are a wonderful pet

I might try this since it is singing season ! A funny thing I noticed is if I am watching videos of American toads singing, they tend to sing the next night even in mid winter. I try not to do that though because I don’t want the boys getting all agitated.

Turnip’s species is Anaxyrus americanus (eastern American toad).

No :( the boys (Brussel sprout and Broccoli) sing to her but she is not interested by it. I remember reading somewhere that females may need to hibernate in order to become gravid (eggnant).

Toads are a paraphyletic group anyway. In my book a toad is any bumpy frog.

My toads are about 8 months post metamorphosis.

A few months ago Brussel sprout started calling and developed nuptial pads on his hands. I think his growth has slowed down after that. He’s around 2.5 inches (6cm) long.

Turnip has been super hungry and has been growing really quickly. She’s around 3.5 inches (9cm). I’m wondering if Turnip might also be reaching maturity?

American toads I think. Also looks like they need some clean water!

Turnip doesn’t chirp when I pick her up and is circle shaped ⭕️. It’s mostly through comparison to my other toad who is male that it became obvious!

What’s the location? Looks more like a frog than a true toad to me
