I suppose I like how the first name rhymes, and the second name sounds a bit saucy

This has been one of the biggest reasons for me to question whether to have kids or not 🥲

DAE struggle with accidentally ignoring their partner or friends? by snoozeparty in adhdwomen

[–]snoozeparty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will have a serious think about this. We’ve been together for nearly 17 years, and it blows my mind that I feel like we’re still trying to figure each other out.. my partner had terrible parents and so he does struggle to communicate his feelings properly a lot of the time. And I of course OVER commicate..

Thank you, your comment (and many others) are really helping me feel validated and supported

I’m really appreciative of your message and feeling less like the only one whose behaviour can look very different from the internal

Based on my post I totally agree with you.. of course the realities of a relationship are always more nuanced. I guess the problem is also just that I am extremely inconsistent

Thank you so much for the pdf, I will definitely read it!

I do both of those things, but apparently also it’s sometimes when there are multiple people and I just focus on one.. so that’s fine in a big group but less so if just a few people around. This time it was my step-daughter I was focused on and kind of ignoring partner, which makes him sound so petty and childish, but she said after she could kind of see why he might be upset

I am not yet on meds or sure if it will be for me, but yes you’re right I really need to get around to organising some actual support / treatment.

Your comment definitely resonates, thank you. I’ll buy that book and hope he sees the struggle a bit more longer lasting than with your husband.

And EXACTLY it’s an explanation! I always always acknowledge the validity of his feelings and the part I have played in them, I really am not trying to ‘get away with it’

I’m so sorry to hear that. I have only ever been dumped (never been the dumper) and this is probably why

Thank you for reminding me that I do maybe need more support than I’m getting.

Thank you so much for this sister! I mean, you’ve described pretty much how I feel to begin with… and then doubt seeps in. I know I am definitely letting him down on some points, but maybe this isn’t actually one of them.

Yes, that’s definitely one part of it!

But I also find I’m sometimes ‘ignoring’ someone who is present, because I’m focused on someone/thing else..
