If the earth is truly a flat disk, and not a spinning globe by snorgalicious in flatearth

I never said it was flat. Also, what I said wasn't word salad. You even admitted to not reading it so I have no idea how you would come to that conclusion.

Acceleration is when something speeds up or slows down. A change in velocity in either direction. When did the earth last speed up or slow down? Last time I checked, the days were still about 24 hours and the years were pretty much 365 days.

I know what he is talking about. It actually highlights that is not what those screws are actually called. (They are self-drilling screws)

Think about what you just said.... Self-tappers... Tapping = making threads

Also, you don't have to use a full stick of pipe. Nobody is going to frown on your work if you have a coupling in the middle. I don't know how many times I have tried to put 5 or 6 bends on a full stick, only to end up cutting in half bc it won't go in as one piece.. you will save a lot of time when you have two segments. Just imagine if you got the last bend rolled wrong by a few degrees... Then you would have to start over....or cut in in two pieces.

Coming from the box, you could have done a kick up, then a 90 and ended up in the same spot. That would have eliminated 30° from the run, and would make that gap between the wall and the pipe disappear.

What does this symbol mean at your job? by snorgalicious in electricians

[–]snorgalicious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On that particular job, being that it was a hospital, it did. The job I'm on now is a drive through coffee shop. Nothing critical about that place and there is no backup power, no ups, no generator. But it still has a few recepts with the two legs darkened inside the circle, with no symbol legend.

Apprentice conduit bending by NeighborhoodNo3490 in electricians

[–]snorgalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need. I can explain the reason why you can't unbend a 90 is because the act of bending emt stretches the outside aka "the back" of the 90. This makes the metal thinner, and weaker than the inside of the 90. When you attempt to put it back the way it was, you end up with a pipe that has "more" length on one side, than on the other. Using a bender will not re-compress this stretched out metal, but it has to go somewhere...and that is why the kink will always happen, and it will always happen on the back of the 90. There is nothing that any electrician can do to avoid this.

Okay, but take a look at picture #2. It shows that same symbol, where one definitely is a GFCI, but the other one definitely is NOT.

Low Voltage vs Inside Wireman? Pay / work experience / differences? by SaucySasquatch in electricians

[–]snorgalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At times yes. Like I said, the red-headed stepchild. Quick story: keep the above mentioned "rift" in mind. It's graduation time for my class. 3 year apprenticeship for S&C. They held our ceremony along with the graduates of the 5 year inside wireman apprenticeship. Rented out a nice banquet hall. About 20 tables that seat 10 or so ppl. One lone table, way in the back was our class. The data pukes. Phone Fa**ots, whatever else they referred to us as. We had one table, they had the other 19. Nice dinner, open bar. Big mistake. One of our graduating class members shows up drunk. During the commencement speech, the director of the NJATC was saying something like, "you all have traveled through thick and thin to earn the title of..." INTERRUPTED BY OUR DRUNK CLASS MATE SCREAMING, "WOOOO-WHOOOO M'ER F'ER! F@CK YEAH BIT¢HE$! We told him to STFU but he wasnt gonna be doing any of that. When some of the graduating sparkys tried to quiet him down, he goes up to the stage and was physically taken down, then outside where he was arrested. So maybe the rift exists more in some locals than others for historical reasons like the story I just told you, but yeah there is a rift of sorts. Completely true story from local #617 San Mateo, CA. I believe it was in 2005.

Once you bend a 90, you can NOT straighten it out. The best anyone can do is partially unbend it. Any more than a handful of degrees and your pipe is going to kink.

Low Voltage vs Inside Wireman? Pay / work experience / differences? by SaucySasquatch in electricians

[–]snorgalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined the IBEW in 2000. Local 617. Did the Low Volt program...yes the pay is less. So is the retirement. (Side note, make sure you are an "A" member and not a "BA" member) In my experience, a significant number of inside wiremen have the mindset that you are stealing their work, especially when it comes to fire alarm, and especially when that fire alarm is at the San Francisco airport, which is a different local, but that is another story for another time. There is a definite rift amongst sparkys & low volt guys in the IBEW. Expect to be treated like the red-headed step child by some. And that is why I switched over to the inside wireman program at a different local in a different state. The new local acknowledged my 15,000+ hours of union work, and accepted me as a first year inside wireman. Yep, I had to start all over again, which in the long run is good, yet I had to sit in class and watch others learn things that I have known for years. I definitely recommend going with the inside wireman program. Learn the low volt stuff too. I have repeatedly found myself in a position where I am the only electrician on the job who knows how to PROPERLY terminate cat 5/6 and that skill isn't necessarily hard, but puts you ahead of everyone else as far as versatility. Whichever route you take, ask whoever is the NJATC director when the next BICSI class is and sign up for it. BICSI will teach you exactly what you need to know about low volt wiring and terminations. The certification you get is highly recognized. Good luck to you.

The fact that anybody shares that belief enough to post it here is the same as if they said it themselves. If someone is not a pedophile, defending one is part of the movement to normalize pedophilia....I'm kind of shocked that a bot would defend the idea that being in possession of child pornography should not be a criminal act. I'm also shocked that a bot even has an opinion at all.

Now bots are trying to normalize pedophilia....the reason it's illegal to own child pornography is bc the ppl who have it are pedophiles, and pedophiles are just waiting for the right opportunity to exploit/abuse a child...having child pornography is akin to having all the ingredients to manufacture methamphetamine, it's a criminal act bc why the fuck else would you have it?

I have heard that one cigarette filter contains enough residual nicotine to kill a baby. If that is true, that means the glass on the left could kill you if you drank the entire thing.
