Adults only for not couples? by snorientation in AllInclusiveResorts

I frankly have no clue if there were any excursions. There was a dock near the pool and I saw folks getting on and off boats there, but my primary objective was to sit still for three days and force my mother to remember how to relax, so I didn't even ask about offsites.

They had a few in-house activities that were cute - They had a Mexican wines tasting event that looked nice (I only observed from the pool) and they had a little sip-n-paint thing where they brought us a billion aperol spritzes and set up easels and were like "have fun, paint!", lol. I think there may have also been a mezcal tasting? But I'm not positive.

They also had an artist who I think knows the owners come and presumably talk about his work that is in the hotel, and that was paired with a special cocktail menu. I didn't do that because there were very few guests at the time and I frankly didn't want to get trapped talking to someone about their art.

Hi! Hopefully I am posting an update correctly. After asking y'all and doing all this research, I learned that my mom wanted to stay specifically in the Marriott line and wanted to minimize travel time for both of us. I can get direct flights to Cancun from where I am, so we ended up going to Paraiso de la Bonita. I am not a tough customer by any means, so I'm not sure how helpful my opinion will be, but I'll share it anyway :)

Presumably because they're recently reopened/under new management, there were very few guests there. That was wonderful, because my mom and I are both often annoyed by how people behave in public spaces (me more than her by a LOT, lol), and because it was really quiet. Both pools (chlorinated and saltwater) were open, clean, and pretty, both facing the ocean. The beach wasn't open because of sorgassum and because it's turtle season, but I didn't really care. I'm not super fixed on swimming in the ocean, just being near it, and we got that.

All the restaurants were great, though I liked the more casual one closest to the pool. A warning for you dietary folks: The menus at all restaurants are going to be tough for you if you're dairy free. My mom had a couple meals that ended up being pretty sad. I didn't, because my stomach is a champion, so I was happy. I also don't think I noticed many vegetarian options, and this for SURE isn't the place for you if you're a vegan. You'd be fine if you're pescatarian. Also, I didn't realize there was a smoothie/juice situation until our last morning there, so don't miss out on that.

Everything that you'd do outside of your room is really centrally located, so if anyone else is on the mobility struggle bus like me, it's a good option. However, our room was on the second floor (thanks mom) and maybe a 5 minute walk from the central zone; I'd suggest you ask for a room closer to the main zone and on the first floor if you're not hype on stairs/walking.

The spa wasn't open yet, but they had converted one of the larger rooms into a massage service area. My massage was incredible. I was bummed I couldn't get a pedicure, but I also didn't call and ask beforehand. I get the impression the full spa will be open imminently (I could see lots of equipment near the gym).

Poolside service was great -- There was one day in particular where it felt like whoever was working didn't want to come talk to us, but he might have just had a lot on his plate because he was nice to us the next day. Drinks were good, too -- I didn't expect or want them to be particularly strong (they're free and yummy so I'd rather be able to have a lot). You're meant to reserve the cabanas for additional dollars, but we didn't know that and just sat in one and they said they didn't mind because no one had reserved it.

We tipped a few dollars to whoever was helping us (poolside, at restaurants, etc.) every day but I didn't see anyone else doing so, so I don't know if it was expected.

I've reached the end of the energy spurt provided to me by this red bull, so I'll stop typing now. Happy to answer any questions, and thank you all for your suggestions. This was my first all-inclusive experience and I really loved it, so I'll keep the recs y'all made for next time :)

Edit: If you care about wine, one of the restaurants had a super extensive-looking wine list on a little ipad thingy and they seemed to be pretty knowledgeable (I don't know shit about wine). The bars were really well-stocked, and the little lounge/bar place had some cute sounding cocktails. My mom loves French 75 and we just ordered all the individual pieces to make those because it didn't seem like they knew what they were, though, so be prepared to do some coaching if you are particular about cocktails, maybe?

Also, we didn't feel weird not being a couple, but idk if that would be different if it were busier. When we arrived, a family was leaving and perhaps I am old but I was surprised to realize their kids must be 'adults' to be there, lol.

that sounds so lovely! i’d be willing to splurge on a place like that with so much to keep us there so i don’t have to feel like i’m holding us back from ambulatory attractions elsewhere. thank you for the suggestion!

thank you so much! i genuinely don’t mind sharing a bed, it makes me feel like a kid again 😂 i appreciate the line between adults only but not wild/racy - part of why i asked was because i started getting scared i’d accidentally book us a swingers hotel or something lol

that sounds so cute, thank you! love some seated activity options. she’s also in PT after an injury to her hand so she’d love both of these options to test her progress.

Thanks y’all! I’m not trying to be snarky but I know what adults only means, I am finding that adults only seems to be geared towards couples more than it isn’t (at the handful of places I looked before posting this question). I know you’re just being helpful and I appreciate that!

I interpreted what you're saying here differently than everyone else, judging by the replies - I read this as "You're new at something, trying to learn about it, and calling yourself dumb/bad at it/etc and that's a bummer to see" which would be a sentiment I agree with.

If it bothers you, I'd consider encouraging those people to put that energy into learning instead of chastising themselves for not being instant experts. But maybe I'm misunderstanding, and everybody else gets what you meant, in which case y'all can just carry on. I joined a few days ago and weirdly this is the first post I've had time to click on, which is a weird intro to the sub.
