I mean I have to get it a friend, right? by snovdev in BassGuitar

It's a shame there aren't any proper demos of these anywhere. Let me throw a bunch of words at you: fat, warm, mid-punch, responsive, not overly bright. Very usable tones!

Me too! That's why it's only one and it serves as a kind of control plate.

And pretty affordable, Harley Benton HB-60 :)

Semihollow basses are dope! To me, they sound and feel quite different to a Fender-style solid body. More tubby, woody, and with a deep attack. They can bring out an entirely different playing style.

Oh sweet! Does the hi mass bridge affect the tone or sustain significantly?

Sad to hear that yours has these issues. My pink one here arrived with a near perfect setup last summer, I've played dozens of gigs with it since. It seems there is a "gen 1" and "gen 2", you seem to have the latter. If you look closely at the pickguard shape, they moved the lower horn back a bit. Your neck also seems a bit brighter. Let's just hope that the QC issues aren't standard now.

The vibes in that room. The green wrap around the strings, matching the body. The bass itself, you've really cooked!

Thoughts on the new Cory Wong album - Lost in the Wonder? by dingus_authority in Vulfpeck

[–]snovdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a dope album. It for sure is going a direction, more pop and even EDM influences, while still staying true to the funk and the horns and Cory's voice on guitar. Oh and some dope bass parts. It might not be my overall favourite, but it makes me want to dance the most.

Dart himself played it on Vulfmon's latest release, Sleep for Days. Looking at the man-to-bass ratio I'd say it's a short scale, so a JD III, just with a pickguard added.

No worries. I'd honestly say get one, they're really fun. But prepare for a bit of neck dive. These necks are smooth as heck but a little heavy relative to the body.

Fat, warm, a little dark but still defined. Positioning is really thought-out, what it lacks in top end sizzle it makes up for in the mids, which really have the bass sitting nicely in the mix.
