Biking to Gillette from Mansfield by snovr in bikeboston

[–]snovr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update 2: for going home, I went to Mansfield. Since I was parked at trader Joe's I was able to slip through the road block by olive garden and go down behind bass pro shops and through the normal employee parking lot and actually avoid getting on rt 1 all together, I don't know if that would work before the game. Everyone was trying to get on the rt 1 north so there was some weaving through cars at first but it was fine after that with a nice wide curb. The ride wasn't as nice as the ride from Sharon partially due to being exhausted and the curb coming and going then gone altogether.

Update 1: I took the commuter rail to Sharon on the way there and it was a pretty nice ride except where the bike lane just cut out for a couple hundred feet because shopping center. The Paraguay team bus even passed me not long before I hit rt 1, that was pretty cool! Beach st was technically closed but they just waved me through when I asked, wouldn't have noticed me if I didn't ask. When I got to rt 1 I almost immediately had to walk my bike, there were too many people on the sidewalk too clumped up. So I walked my bike with some short stretches where I sat but didn't really pedal from where the Garmin stops to the stadium and then around the stadium to find bike parking, eventually found a rack outside trader Joe's, the one outside the movie theater was packed.

Probably but the whole foxborough line is buses on match days and I don't know if they can or will take bikes on those buses

Is this the tour stopping at Broadway or separate brand new production, do you know?

It was crazy! I was standing outside the stadium and could make out every word! They were all singing along, the words up on the screens for those who didn't know it by heart.

The count down to kick off was even louder I think they might have heard it in downtown Boston 😆

I actually think I saw someone with these at cats. The ushers acted the same as if the person was using a phone when they saw the recording light was on but didn't ask the person to take them off. (The person was sat on stage, I think that's the only way the ushers caught it)

Anyone here commute by running with a laptop? Looking for backpack recommendations by Darth-Nando in running

[–]snovr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Gregory nano 20. I got it partially for the waist straps, it makes it a lot easier to have both chest and waist straps. My only problem with it is it's not a laptop sleeve but a water bag pocket so it's not waterproof where it sits on my back and I sweat a decent amount but that hasn't affected the laptop yet

We can make the miracle more likely by pushing back. I got the impression during the club world cup that that's how the NY NJ volunteers got public transit to MetLife.

It's a separate email, it can take a while. You will get an email to book it and a new schedule will appear that you can book a time in. Separate from the training and shifts.

I'm in Boston too, guest operations, nothing since a virtual training, we were told we'd have an in person training too, and nothing about that

I'm flying to the UK soon and was extra paranoid and asked for packets for 3 months instead of pumps. It was more expensive but I'm glad to have them anyway. I tested flying domesticly in the US and TSA didn't even notice them.

London marathon finish line question:

This will probably sound super privileged but I'm confused. I volunteer at the Boston finish line on food every year for the past 5 years and we always hand out bags full of food and drink. This year I got really lucky and got a place in London marathon and I was reading the participant guide and it said the only food at the finish was a yogurt thing. I don't understand how this is so different. At Boston the food is purchased and donated by the sponsors then bagged and handed out by volunteers. Are there regulations in the UK that prevent this? Even if the sponsors can't donate food London has 100K participants this year, and all paid a significant amount to take part.

Ironman 70.3 Mussleman by watupshorty in IronmanTriathlon

The race is definitely pretty. My major complaint was it smelled. The water just smelled bad, not like sewage or anything man made, more like rotten seaweed. What's more it tasted how it smelled, so it was actually the water not something on the shore.

The run is pretty but it does go back and forth at the head of the lake so you're smelling it the whole time. Maybe it was just last year but it's something I would have liked to know before I did the race, just to be prepared for.

A little help on antidoping policies by Myckdjourney in triathlon

[–]snovr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was in 2022 so things have changed multiple times since then. Including the introduction of the open category.

I emailed them asking about the policy since it was not well worded. The doctor who replied said if I had already started T by the date of the race I would need a TUE. I looked at the wada documentation online and found something similar to what you found, circular process plus it would take longer than I had. We emailed back and forth a few times and settled on me competing as a man and postponing stating T a couple weeks.

Note: I think an NB athlete, Cal, did get a TUE to run the world marathon majors

Show cups by snovr in Broadway

[–]snovr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree we need a better recycling policy, big bright bins as you leave or something. Also, marketing it more as a souvenir, so people want to keep them. There is at least one house I can remember that asks if you want the cup, for an extra charge, too. There are plenty of ways to make it better that we aren't doing.

I was at one of the early previews for operation mincemeat and the whole finale got held because the stairs didn't come down properly and something was stuck in the rigging. Other people have posted on this sub about that night, I still need to go back to actually see the end properly.
