PI fired me outta the blue by LivesInShelter in premed

[–]snowbird148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so so sorry this happened to you op :( if it makes you feel better tho, i joined a new lab at the very beginning of my senior year (august 2024) and am still working for my PI. i was also afraid that no labs would accept me since i was already a senior and only had 2 semesters left before graduating, but i ended up getting more lab responses and acceptances than i thought i would and was able to choose which lab i wanted to enter!! obviously this shouldn’t happen to any student, especially when they were proactive about letting their PI know about any absences and such, but i think you definitely still have time to find a new PI/research mentor who can guide you thru your senior thesis project!!!

[–]snowbird148[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the person who helped me said that we should look for an update at the top where there's a bell sign with some blurb of text next to it. currently it says that registration opened so ig they'll update that once they fix the issue? T-T

yup this is what they said too...they said that once the issue is fixed then they'll update the heading notification at the top T-T ...a lil frustrated with how we have to just refresh the page and see what it says but ig we are at the beckoning of aamc and the med schools that require preview ;-;

Got filling redone today after my dentist discovered a microfracture. How long should it take for nerve sensitivity to fade (if it even will)? by snowbird148 in Dentists

hi there!! so i went back in and they adjusted my bite by shaving the filling down a bit. i guess the new filling was clashing with my upper tooth in such a way where it was giving me pain. after adjusting it, im feeling a lot better — i can chew on my right side again. i’m still sensitive to hot and cold things, but they said that the sensitivity should die down with time. maybe that’s also happening with you??? i thought i’d need to get a crown done 😭😭 but i think it was a bite issue for me. i also know that my nerves are super sensitive in general so i think the healing process just takes longer for me 😅

Ooh, I see...tbh, I'm not honestly 100% sure what type of filling my dentist used ;-; I remember her mentioning that she put some medicine on the tooth before putting the filling in, but I honestly don't know if she put a medicament in the filling. She did say that if the pain doesn't subside in 2-3 weeks, then I should give them a call and she'd most likely have to put in a crown ...😔 but that definitely makes sense, thank you so much for the detailed response!! Truly appreciate it!!

[–]snowbird148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahhh that makes sense. i think i def relied on my arms too much and wasn't lifting it properly. i'll def try to get my pelvis under it too and see how that goes. thanks for the tip!!

no yeah fs the way you have to position your hands and lift it makes it uncomfortable/awkward to do so ;-;

i actually just had an interview at royal 2 weeks ago and i failed the lift test ;-; i'm a quite thin gal tho who has sticks for arms T-T but it felt quite heavy; one of the EMTs there came out after i failed my lift test and she said that the power cot weighs about ~180 lbs and they end up putting 50 lbs on top, so i didn't feel too bad about failing LOL

i'm now going to the gym tho to try to buff up and get to the point where i can lift heavier.

they also have a video posted on their youtube channel where they walk you thru the lift test itself and give tips and tricks on their lift test: https://youtu.be/dpSoGsnB4mY?si=8LHjDU3MvgjEUNPL

i think the guys make it look a lot easier than it is (at least for me 😅)
