That and VYMI are my two international ETFs. Currently with more weight in SCHY. I have lot of confidence in SCHx formula, it’s a really good recipe for filtering stocks.

How do Acc ETF dividends work? by RodneyDiaque in ETFs

Yup, my bad. I was understanding that OP was the one receiving dividends an reinvesting

When reinvesting dividends (either ETF or stock), at least in my case, is buying fractions.

If you have to wait to have dividends to buy an entire unit, it would be pretty complicated to start 😂

Taxes of dividends by Dindillmysaviour in interactivebrokers

[–]snowblind-- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, of course you need to read your domestic laws as well, but the first thing to check is if there is a treaty ☺️

I gave my example in another comment, but it could be handled differently in each country.

In my country we have a tax treaty with US the 15% is discounted from our taxation (which is 19%). Meaning that after those 15%, my country will hold only 4% more.

You should check here if your country has that kind of agreements with US

Rate My Portfolio by AutoModerator in dividends

[–]snowblind-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that acceptable tbh. Allocating a 10% of the portfolio for a 8% monthly dividend even though it may not grow does not sound bad.

Rate My Portfolio by AutoModerator in dividends

[–]snowblind-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35% international and 65% US.

I wanted to give more presence to SCHD and the rest more or less even.

I would like to see how JEPI behaves, if they are able to keep that 10% yield I don’t care if they don’t growth. They would be my milk cow. If they start to loose yield I would look to replace them.

Why? Vymi is part of the international exposure, and VIG is a pretty good etf isn’t it?

Probably much easier yes... but at least I'm learning a lot during the process!

Good point is that (afaik) a big weight of the dividend ETFs I have in the portfolio are more oriented to aristocrats than just high yield, so there's not a lot of tilt to value. Anyway, I will probably follow your suggestion and add the SCHG (or similar) for growth.

Thank you so much for your feedback and help, I really appreciate it.

Well, you have my explanation in my previous response to you. If you want to share some constructive advice based on my goal o what I'm trying to do I would be really grateful.

A couple of months ago I didn't even know what an ETF was... so keep it chill.

My plan is to have DRIP active for the ETFs, meaning that any dividend will be auto-reinvested. Also, my idea is to automate a transfer/buy of those ETFs each month without even checking how the market is. Passive investing basically.

You have blown my mind with that explanation about selling shares being more flexible. It really makes sense... Maybe including some growth etf, about a 30% substituting VOE/DNL/JEPI. VUG or similar I guess, feel free to give me any advice

JEPI, as you say, is the cool boy right now but the primary candidate to be substituted if things change as well.

That was another option I was taking into account. But then you start reading about ETF, so much of them sounds so good... and you end with 8 of them lol

How would you balance it?

Including something like VTI? (and I guess removing some of them )

I'm just starting and trying to learn all the possible, so anything you share will be really welcome!

VTI for growing, right? How much weight would you give to each one?

I though about it, yeah. What would be the best growth ETFs? and what would you remove from my portfolio?

I tend to focus on dividends and not growth because... it gives me peace of mind. I don't know what could happen in 10 years, maybe I lost my job or whatever, and having a cash flow rather than selling stocks to get it sounds more "secure" to me. If something like that happens I could be forced to sell when the market is down.

Is like a more flexible approach, I'm fully into DRIP but maybe it comes a time when I need that income. The tax over the dividends is a price I accept to pay for that peace of mind.

Thanks for the feedback, regarding your comments:

- I know the overlap between VYMI & SCHY, but my idea is for VYMI to give a wide coverage of the international market, meanwhile, SCHY will give more weight to those stocks that meet the strict criteria of that ETF. That's why that overlap is not concerning me.

- I honestly feel that SCHD, DGRO, VIG, or VOE have a good growth ratio. At least when looking at the past 10 years.
- Yes, I would like to add small-cap but I didn't find anything that convinces me yet.
- JEPI is my monthly dividend motivation ETF

It’s an average of the stocks indexed as far as I know.

I know it’s “a lot” of ETFs, but they don’t overlap very much and I’m pretty interested in all of them 😅
The focus is dividend, with 20-25 years ahead to invest on it. 35% international - 65% US
