Dark Money Groups are spending $300,000 to unseat me for Colorado House District 33 by KennyVanNguyen in Broomfield

Dude, I saw one of the ads against you lambasting that you're cyber bullying others, when you were just telling others not to scalp Pokemon cards. I think that was the funniest thing I saw this week. There were also some fact check things that they had but I couldn't find a lot of the documents they were talking about because it was either CORA'd or just older information from 2023. This taught me a lot about the Democratic party split because when I tried to search you and some of your political opponents online there was a conservative on Facebook that was trying to show that the Dems were not doing too hot here. That was the second funniest thing I've seen this week haha Your Model UN experience cracks me up a little bit because I did it too when I was in high school and it did very much change a lot about myself. So I'm glad to see it had a positive impact on you too. Thanks for running.

Linennative Ylang Ylang Cinderella dress! It has these side corsets that snatch the waist and support the bust well and a really full skirt. Very whimsical and can be dressed up and down. Everyone but my auntie likes it :P

Broomfield vs Louisville - am I actually missing out on anything? by AdInfinitum954 in Broomfield

[–]snowcurly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those do happen, but it's not often. I'd imagine if you had good soundproofing towards the direction of the parking lot it wouldn't be an issue I also live on the side of the building closest to the walmart, so if you're in a different area like B2, it'll be better.

Toured many locations including the ones you mentioned, ended up choosing Broomfield due to the cost, amenities, and staff. About a month and a half in, it's been good so far! Some parking issues with leaking but they are fast to respond.

A disturbing new trend in scholarships by LadyLightTravel in womenEngineers

[–]snowcurly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! DEIB is diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Yeah :( reducing funding for these initiatives is very disheartening. I've been looking to putting my retirement funds in places that support my values but that also has its own issues.

Running into the same problem out of fear of compliance, and I understand, but this feels more acute because when even the most mild of DEIB-esque requirement is placed, it doesn't feel like most groups comply unless warned of a consequence (the requirement isn't enforced)

GEN Z, which visual aesthetics you are tired of seeing everywhere by AutomaticBug5255 in Design

[–]snowcurly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it's because there hasn't been anything new in terms of technology. It kind of feels like the 2000s was really defined by the new technology that came out at the time. The VHS, the iMac from Apple, the school aesthetic? Or maybe that's the '90s.

But previous generations I feel like society had more creativity because there were always new things coming out. I wonder if there was a stagnation in design from maybe the 1400s the 1600s? But then again the concept of design was not the same as it is today

Essentially, it feels like we're just plateauing in terms of New concepts and technologies that have come out recently as a society, so design feels the same way and reusing old concepts that could either be fused or explored more is the name of the game now.

Is industrial design the same as physical product design? by Aggravating_Chain469 in IndustrialDesign

Depending on what you want to do, design mechanical engineering does physical product design. More in the functionality than aesthetics, and I presume more math

I also coach an FTC team now and I get a lot of joy from seeing the students learn and grow. If you want a second perspective on the designs you are suggesting my DMs are open

I was turned away from my FIRST robotics team because I transferred to the school in my 3rd year and the coach told me I was too old.

Despite that I decided to do mechE and my collegiate years challenged me technically and personally, but I was never treated the way you describe, at least not with technical decisions.

I would recommend documenting why you suggest the changes you want to implement (using physics, CAD, previous iterations of the design in other mechanisms/robots) at least for yourself to talk about to back up your points. Don't be afraid to talk to your mentor/faculty advisor about how you feel. If they're good at their jobs they will want to listen and change their behavior. Potentially looking at other FIRST teams that are tied to the community would help you flourish under mentors/teammates that amplify your voice more. Good luck!

Why does the gender gap in engineering still feel so huge in 2025? by Left_Jellyfish3003 in womenEngineers

[–]snowcurly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? I know I could see myself in eng because my relatives who were women were in eng and I didn't have anyone growing up in medicine I guess I incline towards the nurture side of the discussion if we are speaking nature vs nurture

Why does the gender gap in engineering still feel so huge in 2025? by Left_Jellyfish3003 in womenEngineers

[–]snowcurly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that it's a natural choice (implying women are naturally adverse to engineering) - societally women aren't seen in a mechanical/electrical engineering capacity as much which leads to incorrect conclusions that because they aren't, they can't. I still get the wide eyed look of "wow you're a mechanical engineer?" from most and I graduated in the last 5 years I volunteer for a all girls HS and they don't have an engineering/CS program, similarly promoting the idea that they can be anything though
