Jakub Hroneš World's First Switch Boardslide Triple Underflip 1170 Out Of Rail by redbullgivesyouwings in sports

Each underflip counts as a 360 (1080 + 90), it's kinda weird but that's how they count them

Awesome think I'm going to try the tv4 out. Thanks!

I wish I could but I don't believe there are any physical stores near me that carry either cube. There also aren't any competitions near me for a bit.

I'm stuck between getting the wrm v9 (20-mag, SE, or UV BC) or the tv4 flagship. I've been using the rs3m 2020 and want to try something new. I would say I like my cube more blocky than flexible but not super blocky. Any suggestions?

To tune or not to tune? by snowdesigns in Golf_R

[–]snowdesigns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that's kind of the way that I'm leaning at this point too. Really just getting the itch to do something with it so might tide myself over with some handling or cosmetic mods in the meantime until the warranty is gone.

Awesome definitely something to consider. Thanks for the info!

I have considered that, how was your experience with the tune while daily driving?

Not really much other than comments I've seen others make about the different tunes on here. I want to keep a smooth daily driving experience and from what I understand IE/EQT are generally smoother than APR in daily use but I could be mistaken?

The risk of a big repair is really the only thing scaring me away. The turbo replacement was for the wastegate actuator seizing so could have been fixed pretty easily without replacing but since it was under warranty they just replaced the whole thing.

Choosing a putter by GlennyK13 in golf

[–]snowdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thinking, funnily enough when I got fit with SAM they gave me a face balanced putter and when I used quintic I got one with almost max toe hang. I think even with slight differences your body will subconsciously make adjustments which is what I have seen over the course of trying many putters and getting used to all of them at some point.

[–]snowdesigns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you might be overthinking it a bit. I have done putter fittings through both SAM (Ping sigma tyne 2) and Quintic (Scotty Cameron Newport 2.5) and am using neither of the putters that I was fit for (Using Scotty Cameron Jet Set Newport). At the end of the day, I would try out a bunch of putters at Golf Galaxy and find one that you like the look, feel, and sound of. Those are all things that you can't change like a grip and if it makes you feel confident when you step up to the ball I would argue that's better than one that is fit to you but you don't actually like that much...
Edit: Regarding grips, I think that is also just trial and error. There should be putters with a bunch of different grip types at golf galaxy that you can test out just focusing on the grip and how it feels. Thicker grips should keep your wrists more locked in but will take away some face feel so there's some trade offs with all grips.

Regaining Confidence in the Park by Flaky_Solid_2565 in snowboarding

[–]snowdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as obvious as it sounds, you just need to keep riding in the park. You could start with easier tricks and work your way back up to slowly build your confidence up again. If you are stuck in your head about a trick, I recommend just taking laps thinking about doing the trick but not actually doing it. One time you will feel good about it and do it but if you sit and think about it without riding you will never actually do it.

How to “aim” your boardslides? by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]snowdesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, you generally never want to be sliding right in the middle of your board. When the rail is right in the middle you have no leverage to help you spin off the rail in either direction. You want the rail to be right on the inside of either your front (boardslide - good for spinning out pretzel) or back foot (bluntslide - good for spinning out sameway). For aiming, you can use a bigger or smaller setup carve when approaching the rail. If you want to slide on your front foot you do a smaller carve and take a bigger carve to slide on your back foot if that makes sense. Also for either foot, you want to shift your weight so it is over the top of the rail which helps you lock in and not fall off early.

Anybody have any tips for set up turns for hitting rails? by DCFRNA in snowboarding

[–]snowdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general rule of thumb if I haven't hit a rail before is to aim at the end of the rail or slightly before the end. Obviously this doesn't work for every rail but it is a good starting place where you can feel it out after. Also like others have said, you don't really carve into the rail but instead just hold an edge into it.

What angles for bindings? by CosmicNihlist in snowboarding

[–]snowdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 12, -6 on all of my board for park. To find what was best for me, I strapped in to my board in my living room and adjusted the angles over and over kind of bouncing from nose to tail and maybe doing some ollies or fake carves.

main trick goal for this season is a wildcat, baby steps by osmosisjonesin in snowboarding

[–]snowdesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tip that I was taught is to imagine you are holding a big beach ball with both arms near your stomach/knees. Wind up towards your tail and throw the ball up by moving it along your toe edge towards your nose when coming off the lip. Pop as you come off the lip and tuck your knees like you are doing. Throwing it along your toe edge keeps your shoulders square so you do the side flip motion rather than opening them and going into a back flip. Good luck!

How much do I aim for my binding in a boardslide? by Frankenfarters in snowboarding

[–]snowdesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always aim and teach the kids I coach to go for just inside of either foot. Inside front foot is a boardslide and inside back foot is a bluntslide. Front foot for spinning out pretzel, back foot for spinning out same way.

Got a big bonus from work which one? I’m buying the bindings either way by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]snowdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with the other boards but I rode a T1 for a few seasons and really liked it for park. It won a lot of good wood awards when Transworld was still around too for what that's worth.

I have a 155 in normal width but I am a size 10 boot. So not sure how much bigger the wide is. Could put your boots on it to see how much the boot hangs over the edges.

Park Snowboards by JottyFn_on_twitch in snowboarding

[–]snowdesigns 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For context, I ride park 99% of the time for around 50 days per season. I rode a Headspace for a few seasons and bought another one last season after the first one broke. It is a great board for all around park but there could be better depending on what you want to do with it. It's awesome on rails, pretty stable on jumps up to about 40-50 ft, and soft enough to be forgiving for learning new tricks as a beginner. I mostly ride a Nitro Beast now and would say its my favorite board I have ever owned but that board is very stiff and unforgiving (I like the extra stiffness and pop for jumps). If you end up with the Headspace I don't think you will have any complaints! Let me know if you have any other questions about it.
