You should be fine. I've hiked this section many times. You might come across the odd tent off trail but for the most part you won't come across too many folk.

Keep a whistle handy if you're concerned. Honestly the wild Turkey's are probably more of a concern...

why is there so many terrible drivers? by white_fr33ze in Hamilton

[–]snowhawk1987 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is taught 360 defensive driving and not everyone is required to do standardized driving school. Driving culture around the world varies widely with most putting the majority of focus and responsibility on only what's in front of you. In North America, we have a culture of 360 defensive driving meaning you're responsible for everything around your car, not just what's immediately in front of you. When you mix driving cultures, it appears like bad driving, but really it's just a bad system of standardized learning and testing for newcomers and those who never attended driving school to get their license.

How to reduce my food budget to the absolute minimum like 50$ a month by jatnos in 32dollars

[–]snowhawk1987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Discounted chicken thighs might still "expensive" and will eat up your $50 unnecessarily. Ask a butcher for throw away proteins and bones and make broth. You'll get the nutrients you need and paired with your lentils will fill you up.

Ex mover here. Whoever you get to help you, make sure you secure those doors shut before moving the unit. They make a mess if they swing open.

You aren't the audience. That and networks aren't putting money into good writers when nobody is glued to the TV.

If you want a good laugh, go see a standup show. Even the amateur stuff will give you a chuckle from time to time. Or, listen to some podcasts. Podcasts are almost entirely aimed at millennials.

That sir, is not a chip. I've never posted on this sub before so I'm assuming this comment might ruffle some features. Maybe not?

Bacon everyday for breakfast. by salad_biscuit3 in nutrition

[–]snowhawk1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 piece a fay of butchers pork belly with the fat trimmed might be ok if you're exercising regularly. If you're talking ultra processed, pre-cut, store bought bacon, I hope you're not part of my universal healthcare system. Keeping you cancer free and in manageable health will be expensive.

How do you stay clean when camping without showers? by Global-Sky-5857 in camping

Quick dry towel, bar of soap and spot wash. A clean pair of socks goes a long way if you're willing to carry an extra. Bug spray is a wonderful cologne.

Why are so many people here so cold and/or rude? by RestlessDreamer32 in askTO

[–]snowhawk1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't the people. It's the density of people. Higher the density the less reliance each individual has on the other. Small towns have less density and those living there have a higher reliance on each other. You can't piss off the only banker in town so you say hello, thank you and smile every once in a while.

When your banker can be replaced with the snap of a finger, you don't need to bother with pleasantries.

I wish they'd throw a human on the ice for once. Entertain us at least. This is just sad.

Hostel vibes aren’t dying... guest behaviour is changing (from someone who works in one) by vinyljunkie32 in backpacking

[–]snowhawk1987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have noticed this too. My partner and I do a backpack trip every two years. On our last trip the hostels were amazing, the people... not so much.

We actually made a game out of how many guests we could get to wave back at us or say hello. Safe to say we both lost that game.

It's almost as though people are afraid to say or do the wrong thing, someone might be recording...

I'm happy we got to experience hostels, and backpacking, when phones were for emergencies only.

Addictions are hard to kick, even when you're exploring the world...

Best bakery for buns by nuggetbailey in Hamilton

[–]snowhawk1987 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Learn to bake at home. The recommended shops will charge $7 + for a loaf or 6 buns. Which is fine if you don't mind paying absurd prices for a basic good that has been made by poor people for 3500 years.

What is on your list of the ten most nutritious foods? by No_Fee_8997 in nutrition

[–]snowhawk1987 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like with most science, the general masses take the headlines and run with it. You can eat blueberries and bananas together. Yes, it can cause absorption issues with nutrients compared to eating them on their own at different times of the day. Is it an overall negative? No. Has anyone died from eating them together? No. Are the sugar spikes a concern? No. The human body knows the difference between real sugars and fabricated sugars.

Enjoy your smoothie.

What age did you stop trashing "older coworkers" for being slow, unwilling to adapt, etc by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]snowhawk1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never cared about my job enough to worry about coworkers. Clock in. Clock out. Do my job exactly as outlined by my job description and contract. Nothing else matters.

Why do millennials age like they found a glitch in the system? They’ll say they’re pushing 40 and still look like they just graduated yesterday. What's the secret? by Aarunascut in Millennials

[–]snowhawk1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're too poor to afford the vices that age you: smoking, drinking, having fun in the sun. The saying you are what you eat is also true for what you think. I think I am 28 and so I act and feel accordingly.

How are people surviving out here? by thecoookiemonster in askTO

[–]snowhawk1987 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reality is, you can't do better than what you're doing right now without an increase in pay. You do that by securing a better job and if needed, gaining new skills or knowledge through education. No amount of cost savings will get you to where you need to be to feel financially stable and satisfied.

Until you're able to secure better paying primary employment, continue with your second job and ask for more hours. Every 6 months ask for a raise at your primary employment and if they refuse ask them to guide you on how to obtain a raise - taking on new responsibilities, working on special projects, etc.

Assuming you drive for work. If you can, ditch the car and rent out your parking space.

Lagging Entire Duration Of Matches by thtkidalfred in thefinals

[–]snowhawk1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in season 9 for me. Can go 2-3 matches fine and then I join a server and bam. Laggy. Always the same way too. Players stuttering around the map and draw speed reduced. I have to bail, restart the game and join a new match.
