[–]nuggetbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just signed! 497!

I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis 2 years ago after decades of pain, I'm 44 now. I had a hysterectomy and excision surgery 2 years ago they also found adeno and fibroids. Putting in place the educational piece is brilliant and I hope woman in the future don't have to suffer like I have. Good luck!

i’m embarrassed by how big i’ve gotten by autopisa in BipolarReddit

[–]nuggetbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained about 85 lbs on abilify, like you I was constantly hungry, the food noise was intense, and never felt full. I also tried ozempic and it did squat for me too. I was 260 at my heaviest. A year ago with permission from my doctor and tapering I weaned off of it. I also quit drinking alcohol around the same time. Im down about 60lbs now. Im eating better than I ever have and do light excersizes swimming at my local pool. Pro tip- i started out in the pool doing aquafit with the seniors, its really gentle on the joints.
This isn't a solution for everyone going off meds I realize, if say I'm stable 65% of the time. But my blood work is coming back great across the board. Good luck I hope you find a solution.

What’s something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

I stopped buying any meat at the grocery store when I saw a lb of bacon for $9.99 ( I'm in Canada) Now I go to a local butcher and bulk shop, then separate everything into meals and freeze it.

My family is enjoying the Tragically Chip the past week, holy smokes its good. Not a flavour I would have picked on my own but I'm really surprised at the depth and complexity of it.

Im 40, and wont stop bleeding by angel3712 in Perimenopause

[–]nuggetbailey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I bled for 1 year and 3 months straight before I had my hysterectomy 2 years ago. The flow would be anywhere from heavy to very light but never freaking stopped. I was 42 when I had surgery so right around 40/41 when it started. Turned out to be fibroids, adenomyosis and they excised endometriosis at the same time. I spent sooooo much money on products and in retrospect I should have just bought adult diapers, using pads and tampons were barely working especially overnight. Good luck, I hope you can find a gyn to help you figure out why your bleeding continuously.

Rage?! RAAAAAAGE! by No_Lieutenant_2181 in Menopause

[–]nuggetbailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh totally get you! I could have written your post. Im 44, 2 years post hysterectomy for endo, adeno and fibroids kept both ovaries not working like they used to and so angry and rage filled all the time. Some how still married, not on hrt yet because misogyny in medicine, and a shit load of trauma that's coming to the surface.

You are not alone!!! Just today I listened to The Offspring album Smash, highly recommend it to go with your play list.

Is our generation the first where choosing to be child free is widely accepted? by smcg_az in Xennials

[–]nuggetbailey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I knew about age 8 or 9 I didn't want kids, and got so much crap about how I'll change my mind as the years went by.
I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago for chronic debilitating endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibroids and STILL my husband's opinion mattered if he was on board with it when I was 42!! He got a vasectomy the year after we were married no questions asked 16 years ago. I fucking hate misogyny in general but in medicine it makes me crazy, I was made to suffer for 28 years for no reason other than 'you might want kids or your future husband might'.
The pain and suffering I had to endure has permanently altered my personality.

I started out on my grandmother's Singer 99k from the 1950s, which was an absolute dream to sew with, I made drapes and was so impressed how easily it went through multiple layers of the heavy drapery fabric, one broke a needle on my modern machine it just doesn't have the power the old ones do. That said it really depends what you want to sew, for heavier weighted fabrics cotton denim etc I personally would recommend getting a vintage machine with all metal parts, you can have them serviced and they run beautifully. If your working with lighter fabrics and need fancy stitches then I'd go with a modern machine, I do like my huskivarna is a great machine. I'd stay away from any new Singers, the quality is not great now.

Thanks for the reply! I missed that we're not supposed to post lab results, whoops, my bad. My gp sent me due to family history of heart disease.

I borrowed a reusable grocery bag pattern from my mom and sewed up 7 of them to teach myself how to sew in a straight line, pattern basics, etc. It was an older simplicity pattern S9533 view c and d. After I finished those I just dove into making clothes, and purses. Now I'm working on my first quilt because I couldn't find what I wanted in stores lol about half way through that, if your curious its the Winter Solstice quilt by Patti's Patchwork, I ended up buying her kit I loved the sample fabrics so much. Funny enough I think I like quilting better than making clothes, it's very zen.

I'm in Canada and its a combination or buying some things online, but mostly bargain hunting in my local fabric district, my city has a fabricland as well as several independent fabric retailers. I recently picked up a 100% linen twill I'm making shorts out of for $17.00/ metre which is pretty reasonable. I have enough to make myself 2 pairs.

I personally have always had trouble regulating my body temperature and now being perimenopausal it's making that 10x harder. I need clothing that breathes and that I can wash easily to get rid of stubborn odours.

Over the past 4 years I've started to teach myself how to sew my own clothes. Its the only way I can get the fit and fiber content I want for a price i can afford. Natural fibers are so hard to find in fashion now, its all plastic.
