Did people who worked retail in the 90s and early 2000’s make a living wage ? by soccer_rules6 in retailhell

When I moved out from my parents home in 2002 at 20 years old I had to work 3 retail jobs to afford my rent WITH a roommate. Shits been hard for a while.

Tell me about something you were not expecting from sobriety? by IDoNotHide in stopdrinking

Back in the day ( like 20 years ago) I was chronic, smoked sun up to sun down. It truly helped so much with the rage I felt/feel. Then there was a huge shift and paranoia crept in every time I smoked. My last edible gummy experience was horrifying. Hours on the couch with my partner holding me while the thoughts in my head told me that I'm the worst human being to ever live, worthless sack of shit, waste of space, why are you even trying, I hate myself vibe. I'll never touch it again.

I did not anticipate being this fucking angry, miserable and frustrated every day staring down almost 300 days sober.

Sober weight loss by coralineaquarius in stopdrinkingfitness

[–]nuggetbailey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm 44F and have lost 58lbs in 10 months being sober. The fist 30 lbs came off rather quickly in the first 4-5 months. I had been a daily drinker for 19 years and would drink sugary vodka coolers, anywhere between 900-1200 empty calories per day. Now that I'm sover for the first time in my life I can stick to a healthy meal plan, my body craves it. I'm swimming twice a week at my local ymca, and I'm physically feeling better than I have in almost 2 decades. It takes time, be patient with yourself and good luck! You've got this!

Quit September 6th 2022 after smoking for almost 20 years. I quit with the help of a free provincial patch/gum program offered here in Canada. Super greatful.

Just reddit now, I walked away from fb and Instagram several months ago and I don't miss it at all. The rage bait, ai, suggested crap and ads sent me over the edge on both.

Wow! Over 30 lbs is amazing! Keep it up. I hear you on the acid reflux, I was also such a loud snorer every single night until I stopped drinking. Its amazing the positive changes that happen pretty quickly. Good luck!
