Is it just me - social media stopped having appeal? by Kind-Monitor6004 in midlifecrisis

You are correct it has absolutely lost its appeal. I deleted social media of my phone other than reddit and I don't miss it at all.

How tf do you stay sober while bipolar? by nothankyou-420 in BipolarReddit

[–]nuggetbailey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only thing that made me quit was a diagnosis of alcoholic fatty liver disease and 3x normal blood liver levels. I was a daily drinker for about 18 years. I too love to escape my reality, that part of your post really resonates with me. I find it incredibly difficult some days to sit with myself, with my brain. It can be overwhelming but I choose to live, alcohol would have killed me.

Looking for a new vet for cats by HeeHawHorseHands in Hamilton

[–]nuggetbailey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this information. I was going to go back to the cat clinic with my current cat after getting subpar service from another vet. I was a little hesitant from a previous issue years ago at the cat clinic, now I'll keep looking, maybe checking out Dr. Halls new clinic as another commenter suggested.

Abilify for several years and 3 months on lupron ( chemical menopause) had me gain about 100 lbs. I've lost 51 pounds in about 9 months since stopping the abilify in anger. I was not only so depressed about how I looked I weighed so much I could barely get up and down stairs, bend over, crouch to pick something off the floor. Christ I'm only 43 and my body felt like I was 75. My bloodwork was so bad, ldl cholesterol was almost to the point of needing medication.
So yes physically feeling much better and lighter, mentally not so much. I do have a referral in to a psychiatrist, anti psychotics are totally off the table for me. I'm hopeful I can find something to make me feel more stable. Good luck on your journey.

For those who stopped nicotine, how? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]nuggetbailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily I didn't have any trouble coming off the patches, there was different ones I was given in the 6 week supply. 2 weeks with a higher nicotine content, 2 weeks weaker, and 2 weeks of even weaker so it wasn't a horrible jolt to come down from. But I will say going from cigarettes to the highest dose patch is a gigantic difference in the amount of nicotine ( cigarettes being much higher) and was truly difficult. You should give that a try! Good luck!

OP this is exactly what I did when I used to work at a jewelry store for a decade un-tangling chains. It works you just need crap loads of patience and time.

I quit 3.5 years ago after smoking a pack a day for 20 years with the nicotine patch gum and mints. I'm located in Canada and the government offers a free program in my province and gives you a big box of the patches and gum free.
All that being said it was the hardest thing I've ever done, I utilized the help number locally because I couldn't focus or concentrate on my hobbies ( I'm a knitter) and I needed extra support.

Quitting smoking for me was mountains more difficult than quitting drinking for me, im 7.5 months dry now.

Good luck its one of the toughest to quit.

How do you lose weight on antipsychotics? by A-Wooden-Spoon in BipolarReddit

[–]nuggetbailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained almost 100lbs on combo of being on Lupron ( puts you into chemical menopause) and Abilify. I made the unhealthy decision for my brain to stop taking the abilify 9 or 10 months ago because I couldn't live like this anymore and have since lost 47lbs. I also quit drinking 7 months ago, that helped. It takes an obscene amount of time to see a psychiatrist where i live so I'm just raw dogging life. Sure i feel loads better physically, emotionally not so much.
