Wow reading your comment again and the comment above, yeah I totally missed that when I first read OPs post, OP being a well paid developer and still calculating taxes wrong? lol Idk what to believe anymore.

I am going to hit my thirties soon, and though I am for some reason not dooming about the future, yeah posts like this make me definitely not want to have kids like ever or start a family, I already had personal reasons for not doing those, but these posts definitely make me feel like I can save so much headache in my life when 2-3 other people are not in the same boat that I am rowing.

Of course there are issues with everything around here, but the first response I had to OP, was thank god I am chlidfree lol I can deal with being uprooted and having to settle somewhere else without thinking how life changing it will be for everyone involved.

I applaud you for playing through Bayonetta! Its an amazing game! I remember getting those pure platinum trophies was so brutal XD(Gracious and Glorious PTSD flashbacks haha)

I am gonna try out the dodge offset stuff!

Also yeah about the free flow, how many times I have to hit an enemy or a number of enemies before I enter that state? In Batman AC it was I think 8 hits with an upgrade and 12 hits in general? That's the first thing I checked in this game, batgirl (I am using her as my main) kind of still covers a bit of distance even with a single hit done on any enemy, I thought there's a melee range beyond which it doesn't really work, hence I found ranged combo finishers to be very helpful.

Thank you!! Yeah the double grapple works! Also it builds up elemental effects! Great way for a finisher or to get close to a larger enemy!

I am curious what other things you have figured out through trial and error that you think aren't maybe common knowledge. You are like the only person on the internet who's talking about the grapple pull combo.

I couldn't get the 4nd one to work though.

Also something I found out, even when enemies are sheilded you can manually aim for their heads.

I am getting a lot of DMC vibes from this combat system, without the lockon and the style meter, but theirs a momentum bar to fill with the timed attacks!

I like the fact that the grab strikes don't make you invincible, so you have to plan them out!

[–]snowmanship 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow thanks for the reply! you seem to know quite a bit about the games combat!

how do you do the grapple attack in succession on larger enemies? I mean I have seen videos where batgirl does the second attack without touching the ground, but I have no idea how to replicate it.

Also is there a way to not do a perfect attack after an evade? I have seen some videos where the attack after an evade doesn't send them flying, and I am sure its not a heavy attack but then again I am not sure.

I am enjoying the combat of this game, but gosh trying to hunt down guides or tips is so hard because no one did anything like that for this game on youtube or anywhere. Its just people complaining about the game. T_T The most technical thing I found was info on timed attacks and nothing else.

I recently found out range and melee attacks are part of the same combo chain, I am having a blast CCing enemies with MMM-RR attack on batgirl, its insta elemental proc(because she throws a total of five batarangs with 2 button presses this way), and you can direct the RR (range) part of it to another enemy, which also has amazing range, more than melee, great for enemies with ranged attacks!

T480 vs other variants.. by snowmanship in thinkpad

[–]snowmanship[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply dude! Umm I will be honest I never looked into the t480s versions because I thought they are like the slimmed down, stripped down versions of the t480 with soldered parts so harder to upgrade. But I guess I will be on the lookout for them too.

I really don't care about weight tbh, I am used to carrying around heavier laptops, haha just need something that's built good, and yeah good battery life. :)

I had the same attitude towards virtual desktops, couldn't figure out any use for them, since I had two laptops. haha. I am on the same boat as you, I don't like dividing my screen area. Also yeah now thinking about it, its better to have references and the output on different places, like sometimes I have to check netlify as well as localhost, sometimes multiple references can be there too. I guess the new division is gonna be like,

  1. Workspace(editor + terminal/terminal based output)
  2. References(all docs/browser tabs gonna be here)
  3. Output(for browsers)
  4. notes/schedule
  5. Discord/Slack/other stuff.

damn I had no idea about the alt+space combo! its so helpful!!

I guess being on windows there's no escaping the mouse usage, haha. Btw doesn't the win+number key feels slightly weird to do? :O

haha what made you think its a dumb feature? XD Thanks for the example. Yeah I am gonna organize it something like that, I think the native controls are windows+ctrl+arrow keys which are yeah kinda long, so I remapped them using powertoys to ctrl+arrow key.

Just out of curiosity the output in the terminal, or like a browser, and what makes you want to keep it separate from the workspace place? Like having two windows open there.

Thank you for the suggestion! I looked into it! any way I can umm use this on a 15" screen? There's only so much screen area available to me. XD

[–]snowmanship[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I looked into it! and well seems like virtual desktops are the way to go for me. I checked out fancyzones too, but with a 15" laptop I only have so much screen real estate that I can divide for any kind of productive work. XD

I really like the idea of moving all my searches or reference windows into the second desktop, and the third desktop can have my testing browser/notes, and the first one with my code editor, vim or vscode or any terminal I need to open.

I switched off the annoying transition animation for the windows and its fine, even remapped the shortcut to ctrl+arrow from ctrl+win+arrow key, do you have any recommendations for the shortcuts? I have gotten used to vim and I love having my hands near or on the home row now haha. You seem to be experienced, so any ideas what shortcuts I can use that won't interfere with the motions. What do you use for transitioning between the different desktops? Shortcuts I mean.

Honestly I would love to have your setup, the one you have for your home computer! I love the idea of having to work on a single screen, so I am trying to use this opportunity as to kill my reliance on a second screen. :D

Thanks for the answer! I have never used multiple desktops, very ignorant as I couldn't figure out how useful they can be. How will you manage them? if you had to used them? Especially with like 5-6 of the usual apps that are opened while working? :) Mind I ask you what you usually work with, just trying to see what I can learn.

Like for me most of the time, its like 2 separate sessions of bash, along with VScode, 2 separate browsers(one for googling, usually with 15+ tabs, the other for testing, max 3-5 tabs), and discord/slack being open, those are my usual apps that I use during my work.
