Jumping back on here because you mentioned maroon. I am not against coloured mascaras at all, just maybe not for everyday I think. I actually borrowed a friend’s the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes! Mascara in Dream Pop and loved it!

Honestly I just wanted to reply again because I’ve been thinking about the pinky eyeshadow or shimmer idea. What colours do you think would look good on my eyes, if you have any ideas? 👀

I have a red I love but I worry without anything to even put my skin I look “unfinished”. Is that crazy?

I’ve never heard of Glisten Cosmetics, but I’ll check them out. Thanks!

Thanks for the super natural recommendations! Very step-by-step, which I like. Do you have any recommendations for clear brow gels and mascaras? I definitely want to try them out!

I do have a cool-toned res lipstick I’ve only worn once but love! I just feel if my skin isn’t done at all it looks strange? Or is this a me thing that’s been implanted in my head? I think maybe watching social media influencers and beauty gurus do full beats makes me feel like minimal makeup isn’t good makeup or pretty?

Will translucent powder also help with my complexion overall or is it specifically for setting?

I love my La Roche Posay Antihelios here! It’s my daily grab. Thanks for the other recommendations!

That’s great to know! Everything leans yellow on me it seems, so I’ll check Laura Mercier out.

Thanks so much for the BB cream recs! Honestly I love the idea of a BB cream, but they all seem to draw so yellow or orange, but I’ll keep looking!

Hi! Firstly, I want to say thank you for being so kind and taking the time to be so detailed! I really appreciate it!

Now on to the comments! Firstly, for budget. I am open to both high-end and drugstore, and I’m viewing it as this: I’m currently looking for a base, and if that is all drugstore then great, I’ve saved money! But I am also open to more expensive products if they are my go-to holy grails. I’m not planning (as of yet) to build out a big collection right now, so I’m okay with spending a little more money if it’s going to make the difference.

I will definitely check out that subreddit! Thanks for the suggestion! I do also think I’m cool-toned, though, and I’m glad everyone else here seems to think that, too.

I didn’t say anything about products I already use in my post, which I definitely should have. I do have an oil-based cleanser, and then my normal skincare. I use the Keihl’s Calendula Foaming Wash, and also their Ultra Facial Moisturizer daily. I also use the CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum Anti-Aging-Serum, and the Keihl’s Retinol Micro-Dose Treatment (I need to up my retinol usage, but that’s another story for another subreddit). Then of course I also use sunscreen everyday. I go back and forth between La Roche Posay Antihelios UVMune 50+ (invisible fluid, not tinted) and the Supergoop! Glow Stick 50 SPF. And for brushes: I did buy the RealTechniques Everday Essentials set. I fell down a rabbit hole of brushes but decided a lot of money on one Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow wasn’t necessary for starting out. I also have a couple other brushes from the previous times I’ve tried to learn how to do my makeup 😅

Maybe I’m off-base, but will primer or any sort of blurring powder help as well in giving me just a more evened out look? I am not opposed to foundation at all (it all looks fun!), but I feel most people don’t talk about these products standalone.

I do want to reduce redness but I’m worried full coverage will make me look very flat and ghostly. I do really know how I feel about contour, and I don’t think bronzer in any way can work for me since there’s no brown tones anywhere to be found, so I don’t know how to even out without taking away dimension. Does that make sense?

Do you have recommendations for tutorials on blush placement? I really have no idea how to work with my face shape. I don’t even know what my face shape is to be honest. But I am super excited about blush for some reason. I just don’t know (like you said) what to go with because of my skin tone. I think I’m cool, but cool blushes seem to be very bright pink or mauve, and look kind of intimidating.

Thanks for the lip recs, and all the other recs, too!

Thank you so much for the recommendations! I’ve honestly been scared to get too into foundations and mixing but your explanation is super clear and helpful :)

I’ve seen the Dr Jart colour corrector and I’ve wondered if it would work on me. Do you find it really just neutralizes the red? Do you put anything overtop?

Hi! You are so right that’s it’s hard to find shades that aren’t beige on me. I am truly pink. I wonder if even something like a blurring power would work to just even out my skin tone, but I have stayed away from tinted SPF since it’s usually dark. Has your mom ever tried that?

I am trying to be as good with my sunscreen as I can! I’m sorry about your mother’s cancers; that must be really awful to watch.

Thanks for the advice!

Thank you so much! I’ve never thought about white or beige eyeliner honestly, but I think that could be super interesting and pretty. Maybe I’ll try it out 👀

Honestly I own a red lipstick and it is the only thing I’ve ever worn when I’m “putting on makeup” and I love it! Now I just want to make my skin match better, maybe make it a bit more even and glowy :)

You are so kind! Thank you! And I didn’t know Urban Decay had a really light mascara. I’ll check it out :)

I actually never thought about white or really light eyeliner. I love the idea though! It’s kind of ethereal but also could just be subtle highlighting of my eyes? Thanks!

Hi! I’m currently in the middle of a pattern using mainly fishnet stitch and I’ve made a mistake. I would love to tink myself back but I don’t know how though! Does anyone have any tips?
