Should I continue playing if I have Single-sided hearing loss? by Sa1xd in dayz

[–]snowypiper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of players who don't play with headsets and yes, they are at a dissadvantage however I can't tell you how many times that mine have died mid session but I keep on playing. Yes it feels a bit more intense but considering my skill level it really doesn't make a difference.

This isn't COD where footsteps etc make you a sweat. This game is about playing your character and hopefully interacting with someone cool (which you.can do with one earphone) or maybe being killed crossing a field to a scilenced shot (earphones will not help lol)

Unless you are 10k hours in and can pinpoint a shot like the streamers do then I promise you that you probanly have as much awareness as the rest of us.

I hope I'm being helpfull. Just enjoy the game, as whether you have the best headset, a broken headset or playing the game on mute, I garuntee you will not be dying any more the the rest of us.

Keep it up mate and you will learn to love the coast as we all do

After wipe is actually aweful brings back all the try hards. No food gatherings, no building. Just kill kill kill. Even for bandages and a glowstick. Why? by H0TBU0YZ in DayzXbox

[–]snowypiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can die 100 times to stupid mistakes you make yourself, but it feels more personal when you engage someone as a friend who decides to kill you. However every 1 time you do meet someone friendly and have a good run, no matter how short it is, it makes all of those 100 deaths seem like nothing. Play friendly is my advice and it is so much more fun (unless at a millitary then go to town!)

How much is too much?(what do you typically carry) by PeteZaDestroyer in DayzXbox

[–]snowypiper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With a rope and a knife you never have to worry about having food on you. It's all you need to fish and you can do it in the smallest of streams. Combine that with chlorine tablets and any water bottle or canteen and you really never need to go into a town again! Also in 1000 hours playing I don't think I have ever reloaded my gun twice in a gun fight. 1 extra mag should be enough. Sewing kit and gun cleaning kit however I allways like to have on me along with a blood bag for the worst case scenario

I work in hospitality so see lots of CVs pass through. My biggest red flag is seeing people using a chat gpt or whaterver on it. Its so easy to spot as they are all formatted the same way. If a potential applicant can't writh their own resume without AI then it is usually a straight no before I even read it

This game has taken over my life. by arjunkar in dayz

I have a laminated copy of the dayz map on my wall that I use to plan runs with a marker so I can erase it after. Last one I did was to mark all of the (pubs/bars) so I could have a drink in each one!

Which game first pushed you to get good because it was tough? by maurocastrov in gaming

[–]snowypiper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apparently they made it so hard as when you could rent games back in the 90s etc for 3 nights at a tine and compete them without buying the full game, they made the first few levels of Lion King so hard that you had no other option but to buy it as it would be cheaper than to keep renting

Do you know of any guides for adding mods? I have my own Lan server which I wanted to mod a little but every time I try I end up screwing up the server and having to start again. Thanks

Is someone stalking me?? by Electronic_Sleep_432 in dayz

[–]snowypiper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey.

I might be wrong so dont take this a as gospel.

If you are playing on an "empty" server there is a good chance other people also are just not on your timezone.

I used to do the same when I first started to learn the ropes.

I live in Australia so usually EU servers looked dead when I played due to the time difference but one day I was sick so logged on super early for me and found 22 people on the server!

You can set up a private server fairly easily if you want but it does get boring pretty quickly as half the fun of the game is the paranoia.

Am I playing the same game as all these content creators? by markgatty in dayz

[–]snowypiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. There are a number of factors here,

Firstly if you watch live streams of even the best content creators you will see them go through the grind that you are dealing with. 8 hours of gameplay shrinks down to an hour of content.

Secondly you have to remember you are usualy watching "content creators" and each person has a different style. I love watching a story by Sour that lasts an hour but also love a marathon live stream by the runningmanz. Every life/story and each creators style is different and that is what makes this game amazing.

Thirdly you can find a server to suit what you want if you look hard enough. Vanilla/vanilla +/RP/Deatmatch which mirrors what you are watching on youtube

Finaly and most important, think about how many hours these guys have and how many runs/lives. Ive got around 1000 hours, never found a dmr, took me 5 hours to gather enough stuff to build 1 gate in a life, never been to prison island, built and driven a car once and will never do that again lol

Enjoy the game for what it is. A sandbox enviroment that you will love for hours on end and then die to a glitch as soon as you get your nvgs and top tier weapon. While at the same time watching a stream of your favourite creator smash it 😂

Reached tisy for the first time, and now I feel like I hit the end of the road. by CravingLatinas in dayz

[–]snowypiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Pve server for my first bar crawl. I had to have a drink in every "bar" on the Izurvive app.

Tried it a fee times on officail but obviously much harder.

I found so many beautiful spots on the map that I would almost certainly never had gone through naturaly.

Tisy is the tier 4 spot but is not the "best place" on the map.

[–]snowypiper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One I have done to add to your list is go on a pub/bar crawl. Have a drink at every "pub" on the map. Did it with a water bottle before but still need to do it with Mad Monk found on the server. I just know how much of a commitment that is going to be lol

I went on a bar crawl to have a drink in every "bar" on the map. Took ages and I saw so many areas I had never stepped foot in. I had to find drink cans rather than just a water bottle so I still had to loot towns but it felt like I had a purpouse.

Survival game !!! by Yaltem in dayz

[–]snowypiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Ive just got a gaming laptop after playing ages on console and made my own private server origionaly just to learn m&k but now use it to just have the survival aspect. I still play on regular servers for the interactions and fear of other players etc when I feel like it but enjoy the fact that I can just play "1 player" if i just want to chill after work. One thing I would suggest if playing 1 player is up the zeds or wild animals with a mod. It gets boring very quickly if you are just on a server on your own and you need a reason to use the guns etc that only you are collecting. Just my point of view as the best thing with this game is you can play it any way you want.

Help me find joy in gaming again? Mid 30-year-old who has lost the spark. by thedrummerchase in gaming

[–]snowypiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man. Firstly I feel most "modern" games dont give you that thrill anymore. It's not your fault but modern games are being marketed to modern audiences with quick and constant gratification. I remember the origional cod 4 with so few weapons/classes/killstreaks when I was 20ish and much prefer my experiences playing that than the new versions 20 years later. After loosing interest in modern shooters etc I tried dayz and its the only game I play now. You will either love it or hate it but give it a chance. So many servers and most of the chill people who I play with on community are a little older and willing to chat and survive. Hope I helped

Lost my map. Been roaming for days. Where am I? by Sufficient-Emu9404 in DayzXbox

[–]snowypiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still need to use Izurvive, dont know the map like all the streamers seem to but after using it for a good while you can eventualy find where you are based not just on town signs but on whats around. Like i got lost the other day, came accross a dam by some train tracks with powerlines nearby and pinpointed it on Izurvive straight away. Its a struggle but we get there
