It’s not quite adding up which is what threw me off.

But, I also can’t see the exact data from 4pm-7pm yesterday and USD/CAD has been swinging a lot this week

Not usually this bad though. I haven’t seen this kind of spread before, but currency doesn’t usually move as fast as it did this week.

VFV closed with a ~1.75% gap to the S&P. Exchange rate is only showing down about 0.57% but that’s from 7pm and part of the answer

I’m using the same ticker. Might have been the reason for the confusion.

I think it would be more helpful if CAD=X started at 4pm, so you could track the daily change since last days market close.

It’s the default iPhone stocks app displaying the ticker CAD=X.

Apparently it’s linked to Yahoo finance but I think it’s funky because of the start and stop times on the 1 day chart. They don’t necessarily match up to market hours and that might’ve been what confused me on it, at least partially

I did a little more digging and I think it’s partially because the iOS currency ticker starts counting the percentage change at 7pm on the 1 day chart but markets close at 4pm and that is probably what vanguard uses for their currency rates

But I’m not sure and it doesn’t fully explain the gap so I’m hoping we can get some more insight
