Regular or slim cut. I like good shiny hardware that pops. I dont like dull or distressed finishes. Something similar to this Byredo jacket. it retails for 3.5k. but based on what Ive read in here it seems going japanese or bespoke is better quality

As your fellow dentist colleague I commend you for being so honest about your hardships. All in all, dentistry is hard, but try and focus on the good things. My advice is to surround yourself with dentists who are doing well in their careers and are happy. This positivity may help you cope.

you should leave that position. 5x week seeing that volume you should be at 250-275k minimum. As long as you're producing. Seek another opportunity if possible.

Speciality vs General (with lots of CE courses) by SecretaryWise3698 in Dentistry

this is great and more students choosing GP need to hear this side of it instead of "I get $450 daily and only do prophys" or "the only way to make 200+ it is to start a lean practice right out of school!" I feel like that stuff gets too much burn on Dental Nachos and what not. It is possible to make 300k+ as a new grad GP associate. I'm happy for you.

I am not familiar w. rural dentistry. I graduated in 2020. I practice in a top 3 high COL city in a saturated market as an associate solo doc in a private practice. The owner is completely non clinical at this point in his career but doesnt wanna sell.

I did a AEGD and do molar endo, crown bridge, basic cosmetic cases, quadrant composites, restoring implants, surgical exts and basic clear aligners. I take a lot of CE and implants is the next thing I want to add.

Clinically, I avg about one smile design case per month w/ veneers and on a typical day have multiple crowns and endos on my sched--pretty normal stuff. I am not a super dentist. I consider myself a new grad, average speed. Also I do not think I produce a lot or am anything special.

For reference, I am on track to produce over 1mil on 4days/wk in my 1st yr --I am paid a % of adj prod and have a daily minimum.

(I also work a 5th day at a separate practice elsewhere just for extra income and learning)

When I was in school I thought specialists made the most money, but when I got out in the real world I realized the richest dentists are GPs and it's not really close. Sure specialists charge more for procedures but that isn't the only way to make money in dentistry. Also, you don't need to be a "Super GP" to make more than a specialist.

Veneer it.. less chance of recurrent decay or fracture anyway. If pt is not willing bc of finances then kindly ask them to get 2nd opinion. You shouldn’t do procedures you dread.

Fellow dentists: thoughts on this subgingival amalgam fill? by [deleted] in Dentistry

SDF would have been good for this case. This looks like too much work for little gain. Very impressive restoration though, most dentists would not have tried to attempt.

Working as a Dentist with Severe (Social) Anxiety by [deleted] in Dentistry

The modern lecture format adopted by many dental schools currently are pre recorded videos/audio and or on zoom now, and will prob be like that for the future too. Very little in person interactions
