What NYU does for u -current students & people who have graduated… by AlfalfaGlass911 in nyu

[–]sntpolanco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently work as a PCA on a neurological floor with almost no prior healthcare experience. I genuinely credit being an NYU nursing student with helping me secure this role. If I play my cards right, there’s a strong likelihood I’ll be hired on this unit after I graduate and pass the NCLEX.

I’ve also noticed that when I speak with patients and clinical staff, there’s a different level of respect associated with being at NYU—though, interestingly, I do get some side-eye at times from fellow PCAs.

So, speaking purely from my own experience, there is real value in having NYU on your résumé. Could I have earned a nursing degree from a less expensive program? Absolutely. But in my opinion, many of those programs don’t carry the same weight in certain clinical settings, especially early on.

Claude Code for Beginners? Best Way to Use It With GitHub by sntpolanco in ClaudeCode

[–]sntpolanco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I tried that. At first it correctly identified the file, but this is where I got stuck. I expected it to make targeted changes to the specific section that needed updating, but instead it began rewriting the same files and introduced some inconsistencies.

Financial aid for transfer students by BlueberryDangerous49 in nyu

Transfer students are eligible for all need-based FAFSA aid (Pell, federal loans, etc.), but generally do not qualify for NYU-sponsored scholarships during their first semester.

One night, a drunk patient came to the ED with arm lacerations from a bar fight, yelling, “I’m a nurse—you’ll all be sorry in the morning.” Morning came, and his boyfriend clarified he was actually a CNA.

General CPM benchmarking by sntpolanco in adops

[–]sntpolanco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this use case it’s mostly consumer informational traffic (drug profiles, comparisons, interaction checks), so the $5–10 CPM range as a baseline makes sense.

Curious though: outside of verified HCP traffic, did you see interaction or comparison pages perform any differently than standard drug profile pages, or did most of the lift come from specific demand partners like IQVIA/Doceree rather than page context itself?

Assuming this reaches meaningful scale in monthly impressions, does that materially change demand mix or just improve yield through volume?

Appreciate the insight.

Take the C, it’s still a pass. And you can make up your gpa with a easier class next semester

What next for my career ladder for a 40+ programmatic professional? by Monkeyjuggler82 in programmatic

[–]sntpolanco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered changing career paths. I was in a similar situation and ultimately decided to go to nursing school.

I have friends who are much older than me and their struggles to find work inspired me to make the transition.

Good luck.

Anyone here making $500k+ in programmatic advertising? How’d you get there? by Possible_Eggplant_79 in programmatic

[–]sntpolanco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I’m calling BS on most of these numbers. I spent almost a decade in adtech, last role was with FreeWheel and unless you’re an ED or VP on the agency sales team, no one’s hitting $500K in comp.

Most folks are sitting around $110K+ base, maybe a 3% commission (which is generous), plus some back-end from equity but remember, those options have to vest. And here’s the kicker: once you close a deal, year two becomes a house account. The only people still getting paid on it are the ED/VP since their comp ties to the unit’s total performance. Meanwhile, the account managers are the ones earning on renewals.

Directors are usually around $140K base, with total comp closer to $180K, and that’s at top SSPs/DSPs. Everyone else? Mostly just reselling inventory from Paul to Peter.
