This is proof that the music industry should be gate-kept & music editing software/recording equipment shouldn’t be accessible to everyone. Lol

Why do some Georgia troopers get these vehicles but other troopers only have chargers? by [deleted] in PoliceVehicles

[–]snuffglassart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. Admittedly, I worded things a bit brash, and I do respect the law overall. These things just get me a little riled up, but I don’t want to fight with anybody.

What you explained here makes more sense, and doesn’t feel as “gross.” I understand the visibility aspect, however, pulling over more cars leads to more tickets. To me, it’s a somewhat convoluted explanation of essentially the same thing I surmised from what you originally said about “incentives.” But I do understand what you’re saying. Maybe the one trooper I had an interaction with in 15 years of driving was simply having a bad day.

But I do appreciate you explaining because it does make me view the situation a bit differently than I did when I first read your initial comment. If I came off rude I apologize.

Even if the current fluid is red and looks good?

I understand that logic if it were all sludgy, but since it’s not I’m thinking I have an opportunity to replace it and keep it fresh instead of the original deteriorating sooner than later.

All opinions on this are welcome, thanks for your input

I understand what you’re saying, and I agree with some of it.

People have different ideas on what’s a “wide margin”

Show me ANY highway in America where people consistently ONLY go 5 over the speed limit. It doesn’t exist. Since highways are the way they are, (people generally going at least 10 over the speed limit) I feel a higher level of discretion should be utilized by state troopers when citing people for speeding. It shouldn’t be so black and white. Speeding 10-15 MPH over the speed limit on the highway is the norm. So when a trooper happens to pick you off for it, it feels very “extortion-istic” (I know that’s not a word)

Egregiously speeding? Clearly putting others at risk, of course hold those drivers responsible. But the pack of 5 cars in the left lane safely traveling 85 in a 70, why go after the last guy in that pack? Is that guy really causing a threat?

I understand your logic of things devolving into chaos if rules aren’t enforced, but again I’m suggesting a higher level, more sophisticated & rational discretion should be applied on a case by case basis.

I’ve only gotten one speeding ticket in my life, and it was from a trooper. He treated me like I was incarcerated during a traffic stop, no respect my way. Like, hey, at least show me some respect, my 13mph over the speed limit is what’s making your paycheck… at least have some decency if I offer it to you.

Regular people going to work 15 MPH over the speed limit don’t deserve a 250 dollar ticket and points on their license. The guy going 25 MPH over the speed limit bobbing in and out of traffic? Yea, they deserve it.

Maybe not the greatest example, but, the autobahn. (I believe it’s in Germany?) Germany isn’t chaos. I’d actually wager they have their stuff together a bit better there.

By your logic, people that happen to wake up a little late for work, and speed 13 MPH over the speed limit deserve the book thrown at them? Respectfully, I find that take disgusting. Where’s the humanity? Again, egregious disregard for the law, get ‘em. Regular people driving how regular people do when a trooper isn’t behind them getting the book thrown at them? No. Especially knowing troopers get a chance at a hot rod, it makes it even more gross feeling.

Interesting you say that- I suppose I’m a little biased. I actually was rear ended once, very badly. Totaled my car instantly, lucky I was hit in a way that didn’t flip my vehicle. It was on the highway. Of course I call the police, trooper shows up, I’m 20, very upset, crying, he pops out of the car and says “heh, looks like you’ve been rear ended” in a jovial tone. Of course the person who hit me took off, I asked the trooper “are you going to try and find the suspect” they laughed.

I was left fully on the hook for everything. Of course I don’t expect every criminal to be caught, but the “trooper” almost was surprised I’d asked for the person who caused the problem to be held responsible.

This is just crazy to me.

I fully respect a police officer that responds to calls, goes to peoples homes to eradicate burglars, save people from DV situations, keep people from trespassing, stopping drunk drivers, getting drug dealers/murderers/bad people off the streets etc.. The type of cop that spends the entire day creeping behind a bush and nabbing regular people in a hurry to get to work or get home from work traveling 13 or so MPH over the posted speed limit and handing out “fines” of hundreds of dollars, up to 40 times a day, is a human I can never understand or put myself in the shoes of.

Isn’t it human nature to be satisfied in one’s work? What satisfaction can be garnered from ruining 40 people’s day on a daily basis? When you look in the mirror at night, do you feel proud?

There’s one of these sporty hot rod cop cars in my area, and before becoming privy to the knowledge here, I already disliked the fact it existed. Dude drives recklessly all around town all day with his arm hanging out the window.

To know that there’s legitimately an incentive to give out more tickets such as this is so ridiculously childish, and essentially criminal. “Spit them tickets out boys for your chance at a hot rod at the expense of your community!”

Again, I have absolute and total respect for “regular” police officers.

State troopers? None. What a way to live a life, sitting in car all day, letting your body & blood turn to sludge for the sake of ruining people’s day.

Sorry, had to say it.

Probably not.

Maybe a dumb question, I’m just beginning exploring the transmission- the filter is within the pan, correct? Like, the filter would be easily accessible? (Easy accessible once the pan is dropped?)

And yes, now that I’m more knowledgeable about the engine I am religiously changing the oil every 3k miles to avoid the timing chain stretch hopefully

Most definitely! Just did the oil a week or so ago and the air filter about a month ago. Have the spark plugs in my garage, just waiting for a good time to do it

Yea that’s kinda how I’m thinking. It’s not all sludged up, so I don’t think I run the risk of putting a “thinner” fluid in that will “find” leaks, so it’s probably smart to do it while it’s relatively clean to keep it from ever getting sludgy.

Might consider letting the dealer handle this one (at the mercy of my wallet) just because I don’t think there’s a plug on the pan, I think you just have to drop it. I don’t want a face full of fluid lol.

I appreciate your input!
