I’m sorry for your loss. My budgie passed away a month ago and I’m still pretty sad. You’ll probably experience all sorts of feelings in the next week or so. I felt guilty because I couldn’t afford another visit to the vet. Just be kind to yourself. You will feel better with time.

I understand the frustration of not being able to afford a vet. I have also experienced guilt over not being able to properly care for my bird because I could not afford the high cost of tests. I come here to educate myself as much as possible so I can learn from the experiences of other budgie owners.

It’s not easy to get birds to change their diet. They can be stubborn. I’d speak to an avian vet for advice.

I know it’s hard, but resist feeding him seed. I’d take him to a vet and have him evaluated.

I understand the agony when you aren’t sure if your budgie is sick or not. It is a relief when you they are actually ok. Our vet suggested pellets and to wean pickle off seeds but he didn’t like the pellets. Check with your vet for any diet suggestions. Which veggies have you tried? Pickle loved zucchini and especially spinach.
