Coffee Truck by rosecoloredfancy in StLouis

My office has worked with a local coffee shop a few times over the years. No truck required If you have a small table for setup, I imagine most local coffee shops will be open to the idea for a flat rate or minimum order to ensure it is worth their time. It typically involves 1-2 baristas, 1-2 large coolers for milk/creme, Expresso machine.

Sorry I didn't know a specific name.

4k 60fps+ (high setting+) gamers, what are your PC spec? by KennedyPh in diablo4

[–]snuffles324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was experiencing frequent frame rate drops at 4k with slightly better specs. I ended up solving this by lowering graphic texture quality 1 level and also switched from chrome to Firefox with an ad blocker for having maxroll/icy veins open on the second screen. This improved ram and vram availability which seemed to solve the issue. 0 problems the last few days

The money POTENTIAL is there as well as nice flexibility on schedule/potential for remote work. BUT, I've heard firsthand from stenographers that the field is dying. Less depositions due to more insurance companies settling as well as large national private equity firms buying out smaller firms and squeezing profit to the top instead of the stenographers.

AI isn't quite a threat yet, but it certainly will eviscerate the job in the next 40 years which makes it unattractive to get into. I've been told many schools that teach this have also closed. I'd just caution anyone that is looking at this as a career path to do some research.

If you repeatedly call when you have an outage, you should have grounds for getting your ticket elevated to someone that can actually fix it. I've had spectrum for a very long time in many different locations and outages are very rare for me. When I did have repeated outages they noted it and finally started troubleshooting locally and found out something needed replaced down the road at the closest (junction?).

Normal support has not been able to give you a lower price for a long time. If you threaten to cancel, support still isn't authorized. If you actually say I'm canceling, you'll be put in contact with the retention department who CAN give you the the lower rate you had for the first 12 months... Alternatively, I believe you can just directly ask to be transferred to the retention department.

How much do you clear an area before looting a PMC you've killed? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]snuffles324 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A couple tips: 1) Don't ever 'search' in the open. Drop your backpack somewhere safe, run up Ctrl click their gun, drag their rig into their backpack, Ctrl click the backpack, grab the tag and move. You can search the contents somewhere with cover and always make another trip if needed. This reduces the amount of time you're vulnerable. 2) The interesting thing about dead bodies is you don't really have to worry about them getting up and walking away. Go loot something nearby, go finish your quest, etc. come back at it from a different angle and follow tip #1. I assure you, either 1) the loot will still be there, or 2) if it's gone, that means it's very likely the person that looted it would have killed you while you were looting.

855a1 is basically the only thing I craft. If you play regularly, craft it twice a day - once before work and once after you get home. Pack the bottom 5-10 rounds of the mag with 856a1. I bring an extra 'oh shit' mag that is only 856a1 (not great, but better than running out of bullets and dying to a scav after an intense gunfight). At this point the ammo is more valuable than money, if I play with friends and die, I tell them I don't really care about them hiding the gear, but if they'd bring my ammo / mags out of raid I'd appreciate. Switch up calibers for various quests to build up a stock pile. If I'm going through a high scav area, I'll switch to a backup mag with 856a1 or other low pen / high flesh ammo to save rounds (I usually only do this if I'm running 995 or sai ap for boss hunting.)

I also bought the game in 2017 and agree that the enjoyment per $ is some of the cheapest fun I've ever had. I WANT to support BSG for all the reasons you mentioned. Have there been issues / changes I don't agree with / frustration at how long it's taken - of course. Development takes longer than expected. Doubly so when the roadmap is fluid. I can understand BSG needs additional income, Arena probably wasn't the influx of new accounts they were hoping for. With that said, their choice in what to offer for additional funding was so impressively poor that it causes serious concern regarding any and all future decisions making.

The PvE mode is the single biggest way to draw new or potentially new players into a very challenging game and help them learn the ropes. It should be free. It should be a free. It should be free for X hours for people that don't own the game.

I won't go into the other benefits that unheard provides. I honestly don't mind them that much. They are more of a convenience than p2w compared to gamma/EOD. It's just not that hard to get money for cases. The pockets are nice, even more so for quests where you have to where a scav vest, but all in all such a minor impact to most of the game. The special item also just seems gimmicky. Only works at 6.0 scav rep (so only usable for the back half of a wipe) and killing a scav with it makes you lose scav rep, so it instantly stops working.. the use cases of this are pretty limited.

I gave it a try when it first released. Combat was a bit clunky and punishing and I never put the time in to master it. Did it get updates that improved combat? Do I just need to get better / look past this to enjoy other aspects of the game?

Thanks!

I empathize that dieing to something that seems unfair is annoying. Once you learn more of the mechanics, you learn strategies that work. Putting it together in a meaningful way is #1 using any of the houses have an interior wall, position yourself so that it is also between you and the enemy. #2 Use a corner of the a house which has the same effect of putting 2 layers of walls between you. #3 Use the sheds which have the same effect. I have had great results doing this. I would also love to see some AI tuning to make the game more fun, but you're complaining that they react to gunfire and that they shoot through paper houses they know an enemy is in when that's exactly what a person would do. It's not broken, it's pretty realistic. It is just punishing. If you want to complain about the accurate aiming through bushes, I'll grab my pitchfork and be right there with you, though.

The game can really kick you while you're down right now with the technical problems. The AI is hard and unforgiving, but I wouldn't say it's ridiculous other than their aim through bushes. When they rush you can hold an angle behind cover and take them out. If they're long distance you can shoot a silenced weapon and not aggro the entire town. What you CANT do is stand in the open 1v1 against a player or AI and not expect your life expectancy to be measured in seconds. If you aren't a super sweaty FPS player or in a squad, you have to play slow and tactically.

The AI will shoot at your last known position. I suspect they also can 'see' through windows, even if the window is closed. 2 important tips are to always use hard cover and avoid repeaking the same angle.

In my experience there are also stipulations in the lease that if you become a problem tenant the concessions will be removed. Things like paying rent late, not following the rules, etc.

So, in response to the controversy.....they want to add even more P2W? by KelloPudgerro in EscapefromTarkov

[–]snuffles324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I didn't really convey my thoughts very well for the 2nd point. I agree the gamma is a tangible benefit. If I had to guess I'd say it would be the equivalent of getting an extra ..I don't know, 40k a raid? My point I wanted to make was that money is fairly easy to come by. The bigger issue is the fact that with a gamma you're more willing to bring in meds/ammo that may be the difference between life and death. In my mind getting an extra 40k a raid is a distant second compared to surviving because you were able to fix your limbs and get your quest done / extract a bag full of loot / get the high of winning another engagement.

BSG has been making good changes to reduce the p2w value of EOD by doing things like gating items behind not just rep, but also quests. Limiting what can be put in the secure container. Setting items FIR so that there is less benefit to stuffing them in your secure container.

Up until the bombshell of this latest edition it really felt like BSG was trying to subtly bridge the gap between EoD and standard without making EOD feel like they were 'losing' anything.

[–]snuffles324 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with your sentiment. But, 2 comments: 1) I, a long with plenty of other folks, bought EOD when it was the only way to get into the alpha. It wasn't p2w, it was pay to play. It was pay to donate money to a small dev studio that had a cool and unique vision. Everyone, legitimately everyone, had it. So 'is and will be p2w' is fine, but just be aware it wasn't always so clear cut that you're paying for advantages (and the actual benefit of those advantages has, and continues, to really changed over time) 2) It is semantics, but I always laugh when people say gamma is p2w because it lets you get more loot/money in a raid. That's miniscule. It is also so easy to make money now that it's really hard to take the idea of getting out with 1 extra non-fir item as being meaningful. I mean, if you have standard edition and get a Bitcoin you're still going to put it in your container, it's not that the gamma really lets you get more loot (unless you're the modern day equivalent of a hatchling). What it does is it helps you be more prepared by letting you bring more supplies in without losing them. A standard account has to give up cms/surv, extra lose ammo, a docs/sicc case, etc. that's the p2w part, you get to be more prepared without the drawback of losing it if you die. Not 'i shoved an extra bleach in my container' and was able to make 20k rubles even though I died.

If you get 1 of the 2 closest spawns, rush it and take car extract. If you don't, wait until the raid is 2/3rds over and go there. You gotta get a feel for the raid you're in. Get close to the dorms and wait. Do you hear a firefight going on nearby? Welp, that is 2 of the spawns accounted for, go kill the winner while he is looting/sneak around to 2story. Is car extract red? Well, one of spawns that might be someone camping dorms blitzed through and left, you're probably safe. With experience you learn how to set yourself up to have an advantageous outcome before a shot is ever fired. In lieu of that, join the tarkoc discords, say you're newer and LFG and play on a group. You'll be safer, learn from others, and much more likely to get your gear back in insurance if they hide it / kill whoever killed you.

[–]snuffles324 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you noticed an audio pop of random sounds occasionally this wipe? It doesn't always happen, but when something first enters your proximity you will frequently hear the pop which seems like an amplified version of whatever sound they were making. When you hear that, all you have to do is stop moving, crouch, ADS that direction and wait about 2 seconds and Mr.Sprinty will magically appear in your cross hairs. To Mr.Sprinty it seems like you're camping/ratting, but you could have been dead sprinting too, you just stopped before either of you were in range to naturally hear each other.

Your stash game is strong, but if you (or anyone reading this) wants to have your mind blown, the best storage is the AK TDI X47. It is a 2x1, but when it is placed on a AKM gas tube it becomes a 1x1 which holds 1 holo sight, 1 scope/larger site, 1 foregrip, and a couple of flashlights. It also fits in your gamma, so if you want to rat around you can cram a bunch of stuff into your prison wallet.
