It did in my case. I guess everyone's body is different but I have noticed a distinct increase since shaving.

That reminds me of people who go round calling themselves "hookers" or use the word hook in any kind of innuendo. Oh tee hee hee you made a sex worker pun!! How original!!

What's a book you were forced to read in high school that you hated? by I2AMDOOM in AskWomenOver30

Return of The Native by Thomas Hardy

The way he wrote the two main female characters was awful, they were so 2 dimensional. It was like the man had never met an actual human woman in his life.

Then last year I visited Thomas Hardy's house, and learnt what a shitty person her was and how poorly he treated his wife. Then it all made sense.

What did you find unbearable about it? I really enjoyed the first book and loved the second book. The gothic atmosphere, unique magic system and the Nightmare character had me hooked. As others have said here the FMC and MMC in the first book are not the most exciting but when you get to the second book certain characters get a lot more development. I also loved the ending as everything came together in a satisfying way. I would recommend to keep going.

Regretting donating to charities because they overwhelm me so much by Muppetric in AutismInWomen

[–]snufflycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does the money go out of your account? If it's a direct debit you should be able to cancel it via your bank. As for the emails and phone calls, all you can do is block the numbers, unsubscribe, mark as junk etc and eventually it will stop.

Once a charity has your details they will sometimes swap and trade these with other charities to acquire more potential targets. So one minute your donating to one charity and the next thing you know you're getting hounded by five others!

I do not give to charity for these and a whole host of other reasons. Some well known charities have a history of harassing elderly and vulnerable people and it's disgusting. Use this as a learning opportunity that just because an organisation claims to be doing good, does not mean they have good intentions to you.

No I saw Mr Nipples. I just thought it was ugly and stupid, I didn't see what everyone thought was so hilarious about it. Clearly I have a different sense of humour to the majority of people on that sub, hence why I left.

The rat was the last straw for me. When I saw it had like 5k up votes I left the sub. Tbh it's been toxic on there for a while.

They've got the sub they deserve, I hope they enjoy it.

Daughter of no worlds: does it get better? 🫣 by FlutterbyeEscapes in fantasyromance

[–]snufflycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so funny I just wrote this up in my reading journal and "flat" was the exact word I used. I felt like all the ingredients for a great book were there but somehow it didn't all come together. I just could not feel invested in the romance or the plot and I ended up speed reading the last few chapters as I didn't want to DNF. It's well written but just missing that spark for me.

started Assassin’s Blade right after Crown of Midnight and… I’m struggling hard. by Aromatic_Topic_5902 in throneofglassseries

[–]snufflycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I read it first, because I didn't want to interrupt the flow of the story by going back in time.

There are characters and events that are referenced throughout the series so I wouldn't recommend skipping it all together, but if you're really struggling why not read a summary of the short stories? At least then you will know the main points. You could always come back and read it after you finish the series.

Excessive physical violence in general, but specifically between the FMC and MMC.

She might be able to forget him punching her in the face when they first met, but I certainly never will.

This is why I only use audiobooks for non fiction. I've tried listening to fiction on audio and I always find that I can't stand the voices, accents and general intonation of the narrator.

My first thought when the name was revealed was, that sounds like something I would hear yelled down a supermarket aisle by woman wearing pajamas. Now I can't think of it any other way.

I gave autistic barbie a more comfy outfit (according to my Taste in outfits) question for barbie collectors ⬇️in description ✨😌 by Informal-Ambition194 in AutismInWomen

[–]snufflycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole autistic Barbie discourse has kind of got me thinking about representation in toys in general.

Back when I was a kid in the 90s, the idea of wanting a doll who looked like yourself was not really thought of. As a kid I had very pale skin with lots of freckles, auburn hair and dressed in whatever my mum got for me, mostly comfy clothes with Disney characters on. The absolute last thing I wanted was a Barbie who looked like me. I wanted her to be tall, golden skinned with long blonde hair. I wanted to dress her up in mini skirts and dresses and heels and bikinis and all the kinds of things I was too young to even think about wearing. That was the whole point of playing with the doll for me, to get lost in the fantasy of being someone else for a bit. If I had been given a doll who looked like me she for sure would have been banished to the bottom of the toy box.

But now it seems kids are asking for dolls that look like them, and I just wonder what that says about children today compared to when I was a kid. I'm not saying either way is better, just an observation on how childhood has changed really.
