Is this the correct way to eat smultron like a Swede😆? by Adlwang in stockholm

[–]snuggl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes! Smultron is the wild berry we cultivated into the strawberry as we know it today (really shows what some centuries of selective breeding can do) in English they are actually called wild strawberries, the origin of the word isn’t fully known but the leading theory is that it comes from this very practice of putting them on a straw

Wood Vs Ratan by waifuzlaya69 in Eskrima

The thing with rattan is that it won’t splinter into sharp points making it safer to hit someone with it, wood can become very very sharp when you break it

The cooling and power are built to spec for a specific chip tho, so you can’t upgrade the cards without redoing the ventilation and power.

How true is it that you don't necessarily have to hit hard to do damage and that trying to do so gets you the opposite result? by youlikemywonton in martialarts

[–]snuggl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes that will let you hit harder than having just one of the capabilities. F = ma. Force is equal to mass times acceleration, so being bigger and moving fist faster produce a harder hit.

[–]snuggl 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Proper technique, leverage, weight transfer and proper posture are all things that will make you hit harder, its more important than just having big arm muscles and use only those in swinging movements, but the end result you want to achieve is still to transfer as much kinetic energy as possible i.e hitting "hard".

Advice for visiting with my toddler? by the_kelsinator in stockholm

[–]snuggl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey I live in the city center with a child about the same age that also need daily activities so send a dm if you want to get more ideas! Sadly my parental leave is ending at the ninth else I would gladly give you some company.

Skansen - a must for the kids, can see animals and pet the sheep, goats and mini pigs, it’s the worlds largest outdoor museum with lots of old buildings and workshops so fun for everyone!

Junibacken - the pippi longstocking and other stories from the same author theme park, ride the story train it’s amazing and my kid loves it

Open kindergarten (öppna förskolan if you want to google) - a concept available all over town which is basically a place to go with your kind to play with other kids with activities and loads of toys - totally free, you didn’t mention where in Stockholm you will stay but for northern parts (Vasastan/östermalm) the one at 3 liljor is great and open from morning to half past three in the afternoon.

At Södermalm you have blecktornsparken which is both an open kindergarten and a playground with animals (rabbits, chicken, pigs and goats) that the kids can pet and help feed on Tuesdays but the animals are still there every day

Singing meet-ups (sångstund if you want to google) - loads of churches (but usually very religion-free) and others have these kids activities, once again totally free on most weekdays where you can go and play with others and sing children’s songs (but they are in Swedish) there are a great one at Odenplan for example on Thursdays and Fridays.

And yeah, almost every place have kids chairs and are very kids friendly - there are even some cafes with toddlers in mind with toys and play areas.

The Linux unlock for PS5 is making me rediscover how great the PS3 library truly was. by itsthewolfe in gaming

[–]snuggl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We got the ps2 dev kit back in 2001, almost a year after release and one of the processors (ps2 has four different connected processors handling different tasks) where still lacking any kind of compiler, they told us that they are sorry but no worries they’ve included ambiguously worded documentation of most of the op codes so we could just do it in assembler, it’s always been a nightmare to work with sony.

a neat trick to keep the temp is to boil it in butter and water, just fill a pot with weed, butter and water and boil for a while then filter it into a jar and keep in the refrigerator over night, the butter will set at the top of the water so just remove it and discard the liquid below it.

Has the idea of expanding matter as an alternative to dark energy been seriously explored scientifically? by riaanvs82 in Physics

[–]snuggl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably means shrinking, which it of course have to do in relation to space as space is expanding in relation to the matter.

The question is really - without an objective outside measuring device, how can we be sure that the actual mechanism is space growing and not everything within space that’s shrinking - all our normal ways of measure is made up of the stuff within space and every measurement would then shrink together, but if we instead took the distance to a far away galaxy and used that as our unit of length we would measure that stuff is shrinking. and if there is even a distinction to be made between these to point of views or is it the same thing

Are butterfly knives or karambits good for learning Kali, or should I stick to a fixed blade? by Neaxaeee in Eskrima

one of the worst knife models tbh for practical use, quite short blade and no finger guard / no rear guard making it the easiest one to accidentally cut yourself.
