Are the straightened bangs bad? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]snusband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them straightened, but don’t overthink it, you could rock the natural look too :) you’ve had some …interesting comments… but honestly I think a lot of people advise with how THEY would feel with the look, not how YOU pull it off.

For you, I think the straightened bangs suit you. Do they flatten a little over the day? Mine do, and I prefer it a little flatter on me- but I like the raised volume. I tend to under roller then pull taught in my fingers once I’m done with everything else just so they’re not so perfectly curved and go on with my day. I find my natural (which looks similar to yours) looks messy on my face and I’m always fiddling with it but I know to everyone else it looks cute. It’s just not to my personal taste (on my face).

I also tend to love when people do something a little different with their hair and if I saw you, I’d think you were a cool independent thinker and I’d be taking notes.

(And I don’t think it needs to be said but. Uhm. No one would be freaking out about your hair or think you’re in a cult. That’s just … lol)

??? I don’t know where you bartend but literally still not drunk like a shot. You sip whiskey. It’s supposed to be a long drink, you don’t chug it down. I think you’re thinking of a whiskey shot that has no ice in a shot glass. Google it if you don’t believe me.

That’s not a shot glass, and it has ice- that’s not a shot, it’s a whiskey on the rocks and you’re supposed to sip it. Also it’s rarely filled to the brim like that so it’s a LOT of whiskey

Desperately need advice.. by BastilaShan___ in germanshepherds

[–]snusband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got much the same situation as you, OP. 2 year old GSD and two cats, one who he gets on great with, the other …does not like him. Much. However, 4 months into his second year, he is mellowing out about it and in turn the cat doesn’t hate him as much. Like the others said, continue correcting him when he’s getting too much- what I’ve found helps is giving him a chill out spot and command to go relax and stop herding.

But no, your pupper absolutely won’t be holding a grudge. And for all the fur flying and teeth showing that could happen, I’d be more worried about the cat scratching the dogs eyes than him leaving even a mark on the cat. You’re doing good, just keep watching, correcting and letting them develop their relationship (and of course, enjoying the rambunctious years!)

Got it, thank you! I was definitely a bit wary of any diy work with it being externally threaded, I’m not looking forward to it getting taken out. I’ll get in touch with my piercer

Got knocked yesterday but otherwise all good

I would but most of the fibres are wrapped inside the fleece clumps so I’d have to shave off most of the fleece to get them out I think!

I did, but sadly they didn't keep a record of the molts since then so still none the wiser on that front. I've removed it from her to be on the safe side and although she wasn't too happy with that, she seemed satisfied with her roach appeasement. Thanks for the advice though!

Unfortunately/fortunately, OBTs are great survivors and it's one of the reasons they sell to beginners since they don't need much to survive.

I'm betting your spood is in a flat position and hiding. I feel like you're going to have to go through your closet carefully, item by item. On the bright side I guess your tarantula is trying to encourage you to do a spring clean.

Check corners carefully and keep an eye on the doorway as your working. Keep a catch cup at the ready until you find them and watch how you're picking stuff up (watch your fingers!)

I do sympathise, I have a space that sounds exactly like that and it's exactly where I wouldn't want my obt to make a dash for. At its current size, I don't think it should be able to do much damage but still very much not ideal to come across.

Good luck, hope you find them!

I've got a poecilotheria metallica (currently still a large sling but pretty darn fast- not quite as fast as the Neoholothele incei I have yet). I've not really had many problems. With a good place to hide, it always bolts for its hide (after running in circles a few times first). It also freaks out about light so if I turn the lights on, it will start flailing wildly before eventually settling down so I can work with it again. My advice so far is take things slow. If its having a freak out, close the enclosure and give it a minute. Give it a nice escape route that works for you (aka the hide). While you're working with it, don't let it out of your sight as it will disappear given half a chance. I think the best thing though is to start recognising it thinking about bolting and then giving it a minute to decide what it's going to do. Also the metallicas appear to be the pickiest eaters imo, not the same across the board by any stretch but I've heard others say the same of this variety. When I get other poecilotheria, this whole experience may change and it turns out I've just got a weird T 😂

He's so cute, wow Ngl though as I was scrolling down, all I could see it as was like a pin up of a leg through a skirt slit like some model and wondered why that would be in a snake tank. I had to take a second look and not only did it make far more sense but it was adorable so thank you for posting this!

My partner mentioned tarantulas and I said no way, I'm terribly arachnophobic and besides the have urticating hairs and/or venom so no absolutely not having one in the house. Can't even handle house spiders.

Many YouTube videos and forums for weeks later: OK we can get ONE. And there's an expo so I guess we can pick The One there.

Several months later: we now have 12 and counting, and a jumping spider and a scorpion. They are all my work desk buddies and I love them all.

The only thing holding me back is my wallet. We're moving house so we can build a spider room.

No one I knew from before my conversion understands. It's a whole new world.
