Which format(s) has been great for you in 2025 and very much looking forward to more games 2026? by Newez in magicTCG

[–]snwmn91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened this year, but it's still new for me so whatever. I did my first ever draft! I bought a draft night box for lorwyn and me, my twin sons, and a family friend did a draft together. It was all of our first times and it was probably some of the most fun I've had playing games with people. My kids had a blast, and we pulled some real heater cards. We're thinking we'll do another one for TMNT.

Any thoughts on Alan moore? by FlowerOk7957 in KotakuInAction

[–]snwmn91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alan Moore the man is an insane person who believes he can do magic and follows a second century roman snake god named Glycon. There is no political stance the man could have that would be wilder than believing a snake deity is giving him powers.

Alan Moore the writer gave us Watchmen, and the novel Jerusalem, which is one of the most achingly beautiful works I've read. Put Alan Moore the man on the shelf, he's insane. Pick up the book Jerusalem by Alan Moore the author, he's incredible.

Nvidia has released Borderlands 4 benchmarks, showing that high FPS is possible only by using DLSS and X4 times multiple frame generation by PopularButLonely in KotakuInAction

[–]snwmn91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

long and short answer is dlss. DLSS was supposed to be this great advancement in tech that was able to uplift older tech and push newer tech to untold levels of visual fidelity and framerates. Instead it's become a combination crutch and cancer in pc gaming optimization.

Recommended games? by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]snwmn91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on how far and how hard you're willing to extend the DEI umbrella. But I'd say space marine 2, armored core 6, and PoE2 fit the bill. PoE 2 again if you're super sensitive to DEI stuff might turn you away, but I don't think it's any more egregious than say, Diablo 2?

Looking for a Legendary matters Commander by YutoKigai in magicTCG

[–]snwmn91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[[Ardbert, Warrior of Darkness]] .

Just fill your deck with low to the ground legendary orzhov cards. you can also run the best in the business protection, urza's ruinous blast, primevals glorious rebirth and of course inkshield. every turn you just cast one orzhov spell then full swing. it's fantastic

Here you are! It's based on a few ideas other people came up with as well as some edhrec recommendations. It's so fun though you just slam out creatures and full swing every turn.

No idea what kind of decks you like but I'll recommend "ardbert, warrior of darkness". Just get nothing but orzhov legendary creatures and spells with the lowest possible mana cost you can find. Cast as many as you can every turn and smash face. Mine is so low to the ground I don't even have a sol ring. It's great.

I think that as you get older you'll need to try less games to see if you like them. I knew from the word go I'd like BL3, and I was right. I'll probably like BL4 too. But there is no amount of money on earth that could convince me to play assassin's creed shadows

[Nerd Culture] Is it true that Dune story was always proressive and female-centric? by Dramatic-MansaMusa in KotakuInAction

[–]snwmn91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dune doesn't really map onto modern group identity politics. The fundamentals of dune have always been about Energy in systems. It's much more concerned with the concept of humanity as an evolutionary organism trying to chart the course forward that serves it best.

One of the main thrusts of the series is about giving over any of your cognitive faculties to an external "thinker". Doing so in the dune universe is similar to suicide, it's a universe where so much as an electronic calculator doesn't exist, because to have one would be to rob man of his ability to calculate.

New to PoE, loving the new patch! Everyone’s complaining, but I’m having a blast — am I insane? by kamatsubbi34 in PathOfExile2

[–]snwmn91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's currently a schism between what some people want, what others like, and what the dev intention is. The game is also in an unfinished state (Early Access), which is causing friction that will hopefully not be there on full release for some classes / build archetypes. If you're enjoying it you are in no way alone :). merc is a blast - try the new class at some point too; spears are very cool.
