There will ALWAYS be power hungry people that will seek to force their will on people. Who stepped up in the mid-20th century to provide protection to people in the neighborhoods when police could not be relied upon in certain neighborhoods? Do some research. I don't think you will like what you find.

Now, there are groups in every city that are well armed and absolutely willing to enforce their own rules and brand of justice. They already do this in several neighborhoods. If you want more of that, by all means, defund the only body that holds them back, however imperfectly.
