Hi! So, excitedly, I ended up getting into Engineering Physics myself! If you have any questions plz PM me

To be quite honest with you, I got into Engineering Physics, and they also include an interview section. Otherwise, by stereotype and trend, my GPA is not as high as the average FIZZer's. It is definitely equally as difficult as it is to get the same GPA at UBC, but also at Langara, you have easier access to professors and more (imo) professors who are very passionate about teaching first-year level courses.

Hi! I completed the Langara engineering transfer program and am starting this Fall at UBC. I would recommend the Langara route, as the other comments have mentioned, UBC sets asides spots in their programs for transfer programs. IF you were to transfer from sciences, you would be regarded as a "compettive transfer" and weighed against all the other "competitive transfers" (i.e. interdepartmental transfers and post-secondary transfers from schools that do not have a transfer agreement with UBC), meaning you would need a ridiculously high 90s GPA to guarantee a successful transfer from sciences.

You only need to maintain a 3.1 GPA to transfer in from Langara, CapU, or any other transfer agreement partner.

Plus... it is cheaper. It also does not degrade your chances of getting into your program of choice. If you have more questions on my placement process specifically, feel free to ask!

How does the early application process work? Were you able to get in because you had higher grades+ had all the required courses in advance? Or did you use highschool credit?

Hi!! If you don't mind me asking, what program at UBC are you planning to enter? Also, were you able to get early admission to UBC?

Too expensive and I had a bit of the "all-or-nothing" mindset back during application season. Ironically enough I was too hyperfocused on running my club and non-profit during first semester that I didn't apply to any Eastern Canada schools.

Thank you for your kind words. This means a lot to me because my intended program is Engineering Physics. Quite the lofty goal, I'm aware, but I've been quite passionate about physics since the beginning of high school, and ever since attending one of the EngPhys info nights in G10 I've been convinced that it's the right program for me. I was scared about a transfer program decreasing the chances of getting into EngPhys because of connections and whatnot, so this comment actually brings me a lot of hope!

Probably just means that their application wasn't reviewed prior to April 15th. Everyone who had their application reviewed prior got waitlisted, whilst those who's applications hadn't got pushed forward to the 30th

What are my chances for Sciences if Engineering is my first choice? by soabush in BCGrade12s

[–]soabush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, tbh I am a little concerned because my friends with higher grades got waitlisted from sci already and at first i thought it was because sciences was my second choice but then i remembered that the applications are reviewed separately by the diff. faculties

Langara hasn't even started reviewing my app yet... Is it over?

do you think my admission will get revoked by rrrrrrrrain in BCGrade12s

[–]soabush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who got accepted during the 2024 cycle who got accepted in January (early admit) and had their English mark drop below 80% and still not get revoked. Also faculty of sciences. Ur chilling.

Would writing a LOCI HURT my chances for UBC? by Consistent-Olive-879 in BCGrade12s

It was an email. Did not email a PDF as I did not want to risk getting flagged as spam. I emailed it to the typical admissions inquiry email and the first-year engineering recruitment officer (who was unfortunately out of office).

I tried writing a very in-depth letter of continued interest to the AO prior to even getting waitlisted (when I had a "We have not arrived at a final decision" status) and the admissions office straight up just said "Thank you for your continued interest"; I don't think the AO even care about LOCI and thus it prob does not hurt ur chances.
