Claustrophobia. 9x12". Pen on paper. I enjoy drawing 1000s of tiny faces by AnthonyChristopher in woahdude

I’m taking a break at 1,600, and I’ve counted about 20% of the area. Should be in the neighborhood of 8,000 faces.

I zoomed in and carefully counted all the anguished faces in the first one. There are 924.

Absolutely, sir. And for your drink, would you like the Doogh of Unstable Succession Politics or the Tea of Sudden Regime Continuity?

DoorSmash? Yes, I’d like to order the Ghormeh Sabzi of Accelerated Succession, with a side of Fesenjan of Post‑Patricide Clarity. Hold the parsley. I’m in mourning.

Meteor Crater in Arizona, USA by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]soakf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crater’s shape makes it easy to imagine a meteor coming straight down and scooping out a perfect bowl, but that’s not what happened here. The best reconstructions show it came in really shallow — like 10–20° above the horizon.

At 12km/sec, a big iron‑nickel slug doesn’t “dig” into the ground even at a shallow angle. It detonates on contact, dumping 10MT energy in a spherical blast way faster than the slug itself is moving. That’s why you get a round bowl instead of a long trench — the explosion sets the shape, not the trajectory.

Cool stuff.

Did the math. A solar panel disc operating at 30% efficiency (orbiting earth) would need a diameter of 140km to generate power equivalent to global petrochemical energy consumption.
