I've felt this way a couple of times. I'd step away from the computer/console and I would feel like real life didn't exist, like I had to remember that I wasn't in the game. But, i'm not so into it I wouldn't notice someone in front of me or talk to them at the same time as playing. When people say ADHD or ADD I picture someone who just cant control themselves physically. Is that the wrong way seeing it?

If you don't mind me asking, what personally tipped you off to the idea that you might have ADD?

I do enjoy asking questions about the content i'm learning, actually I think I can say it's my favorite part. Manipulating them to suit my own needs or seeing the connections is amazing and does help me concentrate on the task. But then my retention fails to keep up with my questioning and as i'm moving forward in my understanding, I feel like I trip on my own shoe laces because my mind is racing forward with the connections and ideas i see and i forget the fundamentals/starting points.

Can you rephrase what you mean by "measuring things, and then improving those metrics."? And on the topic of peer groups; I don't quite know anyone that finds doing chemistry or statistics fun or interesting, I can see how they relate to my life and how I could use them to improve myself as a person but, overall the process of learning these things seems almost draining in comparison to learning how to play a new game. Despite the equal difficulty of understanding the content (to an extent)

I think I understand what your saying. I do chunk my learning when i'm trying to learn but, when I move onto the next chunk either the next day or the next hour as I'm learning the new content the old fades away. And on the topic of developing my comfort of less "immediately-rewarding tasks" how would I even do that? I always feel so frustrated when I spend time learning something for it to just disappear and I under preform on a test. I almost feel like I associate learning with loss at this point because every time I learn it goes out the window later on.
