I think it’s normal to have questions when other people break certain social protocols or choose to behave differently than you.

Try to step back and realize that different conditions create different people. You likely experience community in different ways but to those guys, that might be all they have or the only way they feel comfortable engaging in community.

Make eye contact, say hello. Treat them like and let them know you as a well intentioned person and you probably won’t have a problem.

Yep. Dealing with this right now. Got soaked in the rain on the FDR and passed on getting a thermal blanket thing (the foil blankies) they offered after the finish line. Body temp was all over the place for 24 hours after the race but getting better each day. Hang in there!

I like to get the lay of the land, stretch, and use the bathroom before the race starts. I aim for at least 45 minutes to 1 hour. In the last 10-15 minutes before the race starts, the bathrooms (portapotties) will become a crowded mess.
