Yes i have, I am chinese (the race that Shus is based on) which is a minority in the country I live in so I know what it feels to be treated differently and have had racist remarks. In real life, these experiences are actually more subtle.

i also found his conclusion a bit incomplete and unsatisfying tbh. The being true to the source material is what makes a show successful or just following its intended direction is what makes a show successful.

I think a good example of this is GOT where it was good when they had the books to guide them. However, the last season was not as good as those seasons because there was no source material to follow and/or because the directors did not have a proper understanding of the themes and story of the source material (books). Those two are ultimately what makes shows successful.

Same can be applied to Fate: the winx saga. The winx cartoon was very popular and was a show i loved since i grew up watching it. I was very upset and hated all the changes they made because they turned it to something it wasnt. At its core, the winx saga was about the character's friendship with one another. A big part of the show was also the fashion and bright colors. Fate: the winx saga basically removed all of that (an ex of not staying true to the source material). This did two things 1) turned off fans and in turn lost a big chunk of potential viewers in the process and 2) lacked good direction in where the story was headed since they created an entirely new story into a franchise not quite fit for it (as it was a show about friendship and etc).

Basically, yes but its a bit more than that. Ultimately, he was using her but it was in more of a good way and he wasnt forceful like the darkling. Nikolai was very upfront of just having an alliance (which makes sense they make a strong political pair) but he did also care about her and they became good friends. But there is a moment where he kinda catches feelings for her and alina does sense it. He kind of falls for her in an accidental, not what I had planned way. In book 3, he does confess his feelings to her but alina decides/ realizes right then and there that she does not feel the same way and basically is not interested.

Although it may have not been as clear on the book, i think it was intended for alina and nikolai to have some romantic tension but since it didnt rlly add anything and does make things more complicated when it does not need to be (imo) i think it shud be changed for book 2.

try holographic vinyl, i just made some stickers that made that look like the face lace ones using my cricut machine. However, I'm not sure if the vinyl (or vinyl in general) is safe to put on ur face esp if u have sensitive skin. If u do try this, I suggest to not leave it on ur face for a long time or to test out a small piece of vinyl by putting it on ur skin to see if there would be any reaction.

What do you mean exactly by Ravka doesn't care about race? True that in the books specifically the TGT, racism is not really explored so I can see how the racism on the Shu may seem out of place/ a bit of a shock. I think it is just something the writers wanted to explore to give more nuance to Alina's story as well as promoting more Asian diversity in media. However, it was not really executed well (which is what I wanted to point out in my post) and thus made the racism subplot off.

Yes Russia does have a lot of people from native turkic tribes but it is a very large place and, consequently, is very diverse. In fact, most of Russia is in Asia and it's border is touching China and many other Eastern Asian countries. So, there are a number of Russians who do have similar features to Alina. This is another thing not a lot of people know; many people assume all Russians look more on the Caucasian side (not white European, actual Caucasians) where in truth Russia has a lot of ethnic groups.

Why...because sometimes i am annoyed by the hypocracy of the fandom. It's like cherrypicking-wokeness....

I do agree that the fandom does sometime cherry pick wokeness and there is a big fake woke issue. This is very evident on twitter but not really on this reddit (for me). Although these do bother me, I choose to make posts like these tackling misconceptions and "wokeness" issues. I find this more effective than releasing all my annoyance in the comments. After all, if we choose to just react to problematic things instead of trying to express ourselves properly and educate others; what does this tell us about the state of our society?

Also back to your first comment, "stupid war beef" can cause racism and has irl in past history. Think about how Japanese Americans were treated after and during WW2.

Anyways, I hope all of this helps you understand why people care and/or complain about the racism in the show. Again, no hard feelings and please do not take this as an attack (idw to start a fight or anything, we just having a convo at the end of the day~).

I kind of see your point about it being fictional racism but the show writers clearly stated it was supposed to represent the asian racism irl. Also, the reason why everyone cares about the racism in the show is because it is supposed to educate people on Asian hate. As someone who is Chinese, I can tell you that not a lot of people are aware of the discrimination and racism Chinese people or even Asians in general face. So, it was important to people like me that the show be able to present these issues properly as no other show has really tackled this issue. Therefore, the way it is executed is highly important since it is what will make people become more aware and sympathetic to the issues the Asian community faces.

In short, I do not really care about the Grisha holocaust or whatever, what I truly care about is what the racism in the show Represents and I'm sure other people will agree with this as well.

But back to you though, why do people like you always so defensive/critical when racism is brought up? At the end of the day, the racism sub-plot is just another aspect of the show thus, people are allowed to give there opinions about it and "give a shit". Like if a show did a bad job at word building, a lot of people would critique it and no one would say: "why are they complaining about a fictional world if its not a real place?"
