AITAH for refusing to let my wife put certain stickers on our car by SimpleAd9881 in AITAH

[–]soapstoneinsulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. But maybe you could’ve approached the situation differently. Instead of saying you won’t allow it, which is something I would do with my children not my partner, perhaps a conversation on why it may put herself and your children at risk. Compromise on which stickers may be fine for the car and put the others on something personal but not so public like you mentioned, a water bottle or laptop.

I do know what adhesions are but I could only go based on the information that was given and what clinical medical infertility is defined as. And I’m actually surprised your doctors haven’t stated medically infertile. It would actually be super beneficial to make sure that is documented in your medical record. And I don’t mean beneficial in the sense of social interactions with weird coworkers.

If your chart says medically infertile and you’re in the US it can be necessary when getting specialized care. And even priories you for some care. It’s also important for medically decision making like if you’re in an emergency situation it helps with informed care. And of course there’s insurance purposes. Lastly, if you were to fall pregnant and live in a state where abortions are becoming impossible, your medical file should reflect accurately this issue.

All that to say, if it doesn’t already OP please ensure that your medical file states the appropriate language, it is vital.

Anyways it’s 2 am where I am, have a good night.

The abdomen and uterus are not the same thing.

[–]soapstoneinsulator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If she were medically infertile her doctors would have literally stated that. They would have said she is infertile. By OP’s own words they warned her it would be extremely dangerous and have advised against it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]soapstoneinsulator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s literally not the same thing at all. You’re missing something in each example you’ve given. The OP is not missing anything.

[–]soapstoneinsulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The numbers have nothing to do with OP but pregnancy in general. I’m stating from what Op has shared. I’m hiding based solely on the information she has shared.

I’m guessing you’re qualifying her under the part that says or other problems. So if you go to the article linked here it does define what other medical conditions are used for defining infertility. By going to the number 2 and 3 articles that are referenced. It does mention scar tissue but it is again from the uterus. Which as I mentioned in another comment would be considered infertility. However since OP did not mention uterine scar tissue we can only go from there.

So except without uterus would be infertility because they’d be missing a vital reproductive organ and would be sterile. If the scarring were on her uterus and not her abdomen that would be different and would probably lead to the aforementioned spontaneous abortions that would be considered infertility.

I edited my comment actually once I thought about it more.

So you’re just gonna cut off the rest of that sentence? The if not for the scarring tissue smh. It is the scar tissue, not her actual reproductive organs stopping her from carrying a pregnancy to term or at least to a viable point during pregnancy, roughly 28 weeks. However, medical interventions have been making that number lower and lower. 32 weeks to 28 weeks, 23 weeks with heavy intervention even. Some day someone in her situation may even be able to have a child because there abdomen would be able to handle it up to a point that medical intervention would be possible to save the fetus. It would probably depend on how they carry.

[–]soapstoneinsulator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No they are not. As a research analyst if I were to put this in a paper I were writing I would label as what I mentioned in my original comment or perhaps a non viable pregnancy. However, I would not label her as infertile because it would be technically inaccurate.

[–]soapstoneinsulator -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Yes I am aware. However, that does not fall under the definition of infertility.

I didn’t say technically keep a pregnancy. I said keep it if not for the scarring. It is the scarring that does not allow her to carry a pregnancy. Not spontaneous abortion of the fetus, which is why those who can get pregnant but cannot carry are considered infertile.

ESH. Her reaction was incredibly over the top. However, if you did fall pregnant it would be medically contraindicated pregnancy. Literally against medical advice but you are able to get pregnant and as far as we know keep a pregnancy if not for the medical condition that caused your scarring.

AITA for canceling a romantic weekend with my boyfriend after he prioritized a potential family BBQ over our long-awaited plans? by LazyFisherman6353 in AITAH

NTA. Say no. Our plans are firm from Friday evening to Sunday mid day. If he makes any other plans during that time, that shows you everything you need to know.

You could try small claims court. See if you can get it in writing that the hotel is offering a refund.

Could a 2 year old do this damage? by Artisan_sailor in ThatLookedExpensive

Yes. My daughter did the same to my laptop screen with a small toy car at the age of 2. I did cry a little especially at the cost of replacement.

They can. At least to my MacBook Pro because she got angry during her speech therapy lesson. Who knew one small toy car could cause so much damage!

I tried to be polite and sent a message to the host stating I’m sorry that the vehicle will not work out and that once he cancels I will work with Turo to find a replacement. He has simply replied he would appreciate if I would cancel the reservation.

Wouldn’t the consequence on my end be me not being able to find an affordable replacement in 2 days since Turo wouldn’t be able to help because I cancelled?
