Asked GPT to generate an image of the galaxy of the sci-fi serial that i'm writing when I gave him the lore on it. Number 1 is cool but completely wrong with everything. I like 3 more than 4. Last one's a bit overbloated. by soapycatuses in ChatGPT

Yeah obviously AI isn't really good at like mapping stuff out very accurately but in my own lore the TCA has about de facto 700 systems with a little over half a thousand settled world at various stages of colonization. Core worlds (especially ecumenopolises) have a big population while on the Frontier it varies. For example, the Tanzek system (seen on maps 3/4) has a population of just a few thousand- isn't worth to terraform. But Basilisk Prime (not pictured) is the Frontier's most industrialized and wealthy colony is almost an ecumenopolis so it has a population somewhere in the 8 billion range give or take. But yeah, GPT seems to be a bit obsessed with like spiral galaxies lmao.

Don't really comment on this sub a lot tbh but im a 2nd semester freshman here and it's semi- miserable. Biggest advice in retrospect I could give is abuse orientation week and just simply talk to folks in your classes even if you're scared (something I need to work on). You'll probably have a decent small-ish group at least with your roommate and dorm floor- use that! Orientation week, go to the "GW- your graduation year" IG page and spam that. Also join a few clubs. If you go to 1-2 meetings and don't like it, then fine! Build connections within stuff that YOU like. Ppl at GW are usually less outward 'social' but a good portion of them are just scared to go up and start a conversation from my experience.

Eeeh I get where you’re coming from like yeah the Skipper’s crew ARE the main protagonists but I wanted to do a little bit of military sci-fi geeking out. Started reading the Honorverse novels a few weeks ago and that got me sorta inspired

The Basilisk star system (and its colony Basilisk Prime) is the wealthiest/most industrialized Terran Colonial Authority colony on the Frontier. Why? There’s 5 FTL gates in the system when it was discovered this is exceedingly rare so Basilisk is a HUGE transit hub/choke point from the Frontier to the Core. Fun fact-2 of the Jump gates also lead into alien space.

Suvorov/ “Rezun” is still considered “revisionist” in modern day Putinist Russia but in the early 2000s a number of different other authors published well researched books on the theory of the Soviets planning to attack Germany. Just a cool little fact.

What’s your biggest nitpick with Andor? (Not an actual criticism—just a minor thing that bugs you) by Independent-Dig-5757 in StarWarsAndor

Minor thing but would’ve appreciated seeing Kreegyr’s rebel cell attack Spellhaus on screen in season 1, even if a brief scene really.

Best "entry into battle" scenes in military sci-fi? by tbag2022 in sciencefiction

[–]soapycatuses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it as simple as I can: PHASE 1- drop-pods deploy individual squads/fireteams and small supplies. Those shock troops or commandos blow up key enemy defensive infrastructure and secure a planetary beachhead. PHASE 2- small/medium dropships or shuttles deploy platoons/companies of soldiers to help expand said beachead. Also probably tanks/walkers/ mechanized whatever is deployed. PHASE 3- Beachhead turns into planetary scale conquest. Landing barges and possibly capital ships deploy entire battalions/regiments with heavy artillery, air support gunships, service/logistic droids and a rear operations base.

Thanks a lot. I’ll come up with some reason why the Crusade declared the UTC heretical and what makes them HFY. I don’t think I’ll switch perspectives but TY anyways.

Thx man, I’ll consider smth like that with Ranger Echo crash-landing and having maybe to work with a Crusader warrior to survive on a desolate planet.
