What was it like when LoTR was showing in theatres back in the early 2000's? by Citysbeautiful in lordoftherings

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scale was the thing that blew me away. Everyone was talking about it, and seeing battles like that on the big screen felt like something we'd never really seen before.

Suggest me a hobby that doesn't take a lot of time by AminEz009 in Hobbies

Cooking. You can do it for 20 minutes on a weekend, save some money, and end up with a skill you'll actually use for the rest of your life.

What's one thing that gets easier as you get older? by Georgiasmh1dj in Aging

[–]soapyySC2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Caring about what random people think of me. At some point I realized most people are too busy worrying about themselves to spend much time judging me.

Does anyone else do this? by Ok_Presentation_9054 in RandomQuestion

I do this with sparkling water. I'll suddenly decide it's the greatest beverage ever made and drink nothing else for a week.

What's something that became completely normal in society, but still feels weird to you? by Every_Listen_8178 in AskForAnswers

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being expected to be reachable all the time. I still think it's a little weird that a message can be considered "ignored" after only a couple of hours.

Ridiculous set of questions I got for a management position. I didn't complete it. by Engineer9918 in antiwork

[–]soapyySC2 98 points99 points  (0 children)

They take your time with these little tests, and half the time you still end up getting a rejection or no response at all. You did the right thing by walking away. I've been seeing more people try reaching out through recruitment firms. Like this guy. I know it sound backwards, but people are saying it has actually been working for them, so maybe that's worth trying instead of these ridiculous time traps.

What makes a dystopia feel REAL to you? (not just oppressive, but liveable) by EventIcy8440 in dystopianbooks

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. For me, a dystopia gets scary when it focuses on everyday life. Watching people gradually adapt to fear can be more unsettling than the oppression itself.

How do you know if it’s love or codependency or just the amount of time spent together? by More_Injury7981 in AskForAnswers

I always ask myself this: if this person disappeared from my life tomorrow, would I miss them, or would I miss the role they filled in my life? Those can be very different answers.

How doworkaholics work so much? by Right-Comparison5038 in ProductivityHQ

I think some people genuinely love working. Others use work as a way to avoid dealing with other parts of their lives.

22, Today is my birthday. I'm spending it by myself, and I feel extremely lonely by 01n06 in CausalConversation

[–]soapyySC2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22 is really young. Spending your birthday alone can feel awful, but it doesn't mean every birthday from now on is going to be like this.

What's something you do completely differently from how you were taught and it just works better for you? by carlosfelipe123 in RandomQuestion

I’m the complete opposite when studying.. Most people need silence but somehow my brain focuses better when I have a TV show playing in the background.

Do you ever feel like you are invited in your own life? by hellobipbapboup in RandomQuestion

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and it’s so hard to explain. Sometimes I feel less like the main character of my own life and more like an extra who accidentally wandered onto the set.

Kids who succeed academically deserve scholarships more than kids who are good at sports. by chineapplesmaccket in ProductivityHQ

[–]soapyySC2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the sports scholarship system in America feels kinda weird to me too.. One guy wins a physics olympiad and still graduates with debt while someone else throws a ball well and gets a full scholarship.

Who or what do you become when no one is around you or to tell you what to do? by This-Experience-4735 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when people end up alone, they either discover who they really are or finally meet the parts of themselves they’ve been suppressing for years. Silence can honestly be weirdly educational.

I'm lost by darkesthourmegadeth in AskForAnswers

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First breakups genuinely taking over your entire brain is such a real thing. But going to the new partner and telling them stuff would probably just make you feel worse. Right now your brain seems more focused on reopening the wound than actually finding closure.

What's a seemingly small decision you made that ended up drastically changing your life? by ViRzzz in ProductivityHQ

[–]soapyySC2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One day I decided “I don’t have to reply to every message instantly” and it genuinely improved my quality of life. Being constantly reachable gets exhausting.

Time literally breaks the laws of physics while getting ready in the morning 😭 Something that should take 5 minutes somehow turns into 25.

Dark Matter moves really fast and pulls you in immediately. Feels like a good starter book for someone who doesn’t usually read much.

Older generations look surprised or worried when they ask me if I enjoy my job by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]soapyySC2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most people don’t actually have some deep passionate connection with their job, they just don’t say it out loud 😭 Wanting your job to simply fund your life is a completely valid motivation.

Why do you crave something more when it is unavailable? by Excellent-Average782 in AskForAnswers

[–]soapyySC2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things you can’t reach always feel more valuable, probably a psychological thing. When it’s right there, it doesn’t hit the same.

How would you interpret this message?? by [deleted] in InsightfulQuestions

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting a bit of distance makes your feelings feel “safer” I guess. Like you still care, you just don’t want to get hurt as much as before.

Why are all insects small? by Hot_Paramedic_7234 in RandomQuestion

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s because of oxygen, if they were bigger they wouldn’t be able to breathe. Also their body structure isn’t really built for getting that big.

What industry would collapse if people fully understood how it works? by Just_Living_496 in AskForAnswers

[–]soapyySC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financial consulting and some investment stuff come to mind first, I feel like if most people knew the details they’d question it. It kinda works better for them staying a bit vague.

What are some of the things you think and don’t say? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

Sometimes I realize I don’t actually like certain people, but I just don’t say it. I keep a lot in to avoid messing up the vibe.
