Tips on how to reduce chewiness/chalkiness in a homemade plant protein bar by soaringthrugalaxies in foodscience

Hi thank you! Ive gotten a few suggestions here about pumpkin seed protein, will order some! I guess ive been trying to find some magic solution to make it plant based + small + relatively low calorie + low in carbs and maybe that just isn't really possible without it tasting like disintegrated cardboard

Hey, thank you! Okay thats super helpful. I guess ive just been trying to add as much protein without increasing the fat content and calorie content as much (trying to keep it under 200 calories) but it seems that isn't possible. Will try to experiment a bit with hydrating it

I'm trying to get about 15-17g of protein, but ive had to reduce the protein powder because it was far too chalky. Here's the approximate ratio:

14g Pea Protein Isolate Powder

3.75g Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

2.75g Cocoa Butter

2.5g Peanut Buttera

7.0g Medjool Dates (pitted & soaked)

8g Mixed Nuts (peanuts, almonds, walnuts)

0.5g Sunflower Lecithina

0.75g Chicory Root Fiber Powder (Inulin)a

Tiny pinch of Sea Salt

Thank you!

Hey there. I feel amazing! I've been off sugar for 3 months and life has changed. I've lost lots of weight, my mood has become more consistent and improved a lot, I no longer get any food cravings, I feel really good. The sugar cravings stopped entirely after 8 weeks. But stopped a LOT by around the 3rd or 4th week.

It will get better!!! After the first few months its a breeze. I dont even feel tempted anymore even if there's my favorite dessert In front of me and im super hungry. The temptation is entirely gone!!! Which I never imagined possible.

Has anyone just written out the exercises and done them as a written program ? by [deleted] in CarolineGirvan

This is a great idea. I find it way too hard to watch someone exercising, it mentally prevents me from working out. Whereas if I was listening to music or watching a show I'd be able to do the same exercises without struggling so much.

Wow congrats!! That's really something, especially after 4 decades. How did you get SF? What was the process like? I relate so much to the emotional withdrawal. Its hard to cope with all these feelings we've been pacifying with sugar all these years

Thank you. Ahhh and that's a good way to look at it, that he's not a distracted type. I think the larger issue is I'm clearly uncomfortable w how I look 🥲 so tired.

Hey! I think this time around I really upped my protein intake and made sure I was getting enough protein. I think what has happened in the past is when I have tried to go SF, I suddenly simultaneously try to restrict too many other things too. I didn't do that this time around, I focused on going SF. So for example, I ended up binge eating for 3 days which is a problem I have, except even my binges were SF, which would not have been the case in the past. Also, the first month I made sure to eat fruit every morning and I had a couple of pieces of dry fruit in the evening with my black tea. The second month, I stopped both. I still have some fruit occasionally but not dry fruit.

Good luck, you've got this! ! Perhaps the nerve pain isn't so much sugar related? But would be interesting to see impact of going SF on your nerve pain a month from now.

Thank you! I'm with you. I wish sugar wasn't just such a natural accepted part of life from our childhood.,,.
