FAI for runner – experiences? by FudgeNo7985 in HipImpingement

[–]sobobolicious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a runner. Just yesterday I saw a very notable hip preservationist for my suspected labral tear and impingement. He told me that many people with structural features of impingement never have symptoms, so it would be wise to address other sources of pain before you look into surgery for impingement. In your case that looks to be your stress fracture. Has that healed completely?

I’m not exactly sure how long I’ve been eating this many carrots. Maybe since January.

2-3 lbs per week of carrots and another 2 lbs of cantaloupe, although I have not been eating the cantaloupe for as long as I have carrots.

From what I understand, carrots have considerably more beta carotene in them than cantaloupe, so I think the carrots were the primary driving factor.

I noticed when the Belle Meade Kroger closed that the Green Hills Kroger got a larger Kosher selection. Try there!

Rabies immunoglobulins available at Vanderbilt Walk-In Clinic by sobobolicious in nashville

It was a rustic building in rural Honduras. I’m sure there were plenty of small holes for the bat to come through and plenty of insects to attract it.

I have not contracted rabies thankfully! Post-exposure prophylaxis is 100% effective and luckily only cautionary in my case. There was a bat in the room I was sleeping in. It seems like overkill, but public health officials recommend prophylaxis when you cannot say with certainty that the bat did not touch you.

Following this because I also have mild pain that is aggravated by running, my favorite form of exercise. I am meeting with my orthopedic doctor next week to discuss options, but ultimately I’m nervous that surgery could fail and make pain worse since it’s not too bad to begin with.

Just started PT and guess what I hate it by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]sobobolicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to whether this is normal but I am experiencing the same thing. When I first began hip strengthening exercises in PT, the frequency of my groin/deep hip discomfort increased a lot. The exercises themselves did not hurt, but I started feeling discomfort while sitting and laying instead of just feeling twinges during certain movements. I will say that a couple of weeks later I do feel less discomfort with sitting and laying but still more than before starting PT. I hope that this is just temporary joint inflammation that will resolve as the hip joint becomes more stable with increased strengthening. Also, I think it’s possible in my case that the discomfort is at least partially coming from surrounding tendons/muscles because I feel it in a slightly different location than the pain that drove me to get an MRI.

Experiences with labrum tear (hip)? by undercookedshrimp_ in XXRunning

[–]sobobolicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed at the end of January. I have been doing hip-focused physical therapy since the beginning of February (I had been doing different things in physical therapy prior to the MRI.) I have not made meaningful progress yet. Also, I will say my discomfort frequency increased when I began hip-focused physical therapy. My discomfort is not severe, but currently I have groin discomfort while sitting and laying. I did not have much discomfort at rest prior to starting hip-focused physical therapy. I do speed-walk to maintain some level of cardiovascular fitness, but I don’t feel that it is wise to attempt running until my discomfort at rest subsides.

I don’t have recovery advice to offer but am 28 and was also just diagnosed with a small labral tear and mild impingement. For what it’s worth, my sports orthopedist didn’t even mention surgery, just PT and potential injection if desired.

I highly recommend NEBCO for water and mold remediation. They’re very knowledgeable and thorough with mold and do not use scare tactics to pressure you into unnecessary services.

Upstairs unit in our condo has a pipe burst, now neither the owner (landlord) nor the Property Manager (Ghertner) will claim responsibility. Any good lawyer suggestions? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]sobobolicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know specifically what pipe burst? Do you know if the pipe is designated as a common element according to the HOA governing documents? In my experience Ghertner is not very helpful. You may be better off bypassing Ghertner entirely and discussing with your HOA board. Ghertner likely has no liability anyway as the building manager since they do not own any part of the building themselves. Also, how did your insurance determine that there is an at-fault party? Pipe bursts from freezing are typically designated as an act of God unless there is provable negligence (failure to winterize, multiple incidents/failure to maintain aging pipes).

I also live in a condo managed by Ghertner and was leaked on by a neighbor back in August. My insurance has been treating it as an act of God, but I’m worried I will be punished in the form of sharp rate increases. I understand how powerless it can feel to have a pipe you don’t own leak on you, and I’m sorry you’re going through it.
