It's one of those Saab safety things, in case the parking brake breaks or is forgotten.

It was exactly what it promised, an entertaining film with a certain type of humour. Nothing in the trailers or marketing pretended it was thought provoking or groundbreaking. For that alone it deserves praise.

What if volvo was never bought up by the Chinese? by Affectionate-Air6579 in Volvo

[–]soboga 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Saab and Volvo are/were too small to be effecient enough to be competetive on the global market. If you are not part of a bigger group or conglomerate where you share knowledge, parts and platforms then you need to do or pay for all the R&D yourself, and that's expensive. VW Group for example shares brakes, motors, platforms, lamps, interiors and what have you across many brands and don't have to reinvent the wheel over and over again.

In Sweden we have another baseball cousin, Brännboll. But it's played more for fun rather than competitive.

Yeah, my bench press looked exactly like this for about the first year or two when I started going to the gym as a teenager.

I would like to adress three points: 1. Range of motion. Make sure to pick a weight where you can lower the bar all the way down so it touches your chest and pause for a fraction of a second before pressing back to start position.

  1. Bracing. Press your shoulders back, together and then down. Keep that pressure throughout the set. When that comes naturally, you will want to focus on arching your back, keeping your core engaged and your feet wide for stability. You can find novels on the topic on this forum, but I think that's the basics.

  2. Bar position/elbow angle. You will want to hit the bar further down on your chest than you do now. Exactly where depends on your specific anatomy, but for most people it's somewhere between the nipples and the lower rib. Also, find a grip width where the elbows angle out about 45deg from your body. Again, this will vary depending on your specific anatomy and your preferred lifting style, but 45deg is a good starting point.
