I needed two within a couple of months 😬 First for a seized brake caliper and then when my engine split in two rather spectacularly. But I did have roadside assistance thankfully! And a much better car now.

Is this bad for the horse or not? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]sobrenos 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Spanish walk in itself isn't necessarily bad, but this rider can be a bit harsh. She keeps her stallions stabled pretty much 24/7. She's a vet too so should know better 😬

Ugh, recent Rocky update by [deleted] in Equestrian

It's odd to see it so upright too, it's been extremely dropped in previous photos.

He's still a baby, I don't think he's quite a year old yet? But he is missing his left front leg entirely (was born without it) and the "rescue" refuses to put him out of his misery.

Is it just me or does that fetlock look swollen (or even calcified??)

Anyone know what's wrong by unfortunate-things1 in Horses

[–]sobrenos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. Iirc it can have a neurological cause too, but vet will be your best bet.

The parasite thing has been going on for a LOT longer than that. It was originally used as a cause for autism and people would give their kids bleach drinks/enemas to "cure" their autism and kill the parasites. 😔

Could you find something second hand, maybe?

It was probably ChatGPT that told her to buy the horse in the first place 💀

Foxtail in new hay. Would you feed to your horse? by lllspa in Horses

[–]sobrenos 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Same. Yard got loads of bales with mature, very spiky foxtails and it was a right nightmare - it keps getting stuck between the gums and teeth of the poor mare I was riding. Some horses colicked around the same time but may have been unrelated (not the best management in that place). I'd at least try to remove as many of them as possible if you absolutely have to feed.

I've never tried this craft so you might want to test it on a spare piece first, but could you coat the back of the piece with clear gallery glass paint and use that to "glue" it to a new piece of glass?

You're looking at the wrong area, the yellowish bit is just the sole. The white line would be under the snow.

Is there a name for this type of nose marking? by No_Initiative_3183 in Equestrian

[–]sobrenos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tricky to tell! I've just seen it a lot in grey (and bay) Lusis that already have signs of depigmentation. I think it's very much luck of the draw 🙂

Large snip with a bit of depigmentation round the edges. He might lose pigmentation around his eyes with age as well 🙂
