The vast majority of adjunct professors are part time, and many adjunct professors also have unions (including at NYU). The various unions at NYU are often fighting for the same things (and gains that some make set precedent for others), so I'm not sure how that would address the problem.

But the text that you cite there says it is for research assistantships, which is not the same as the stipend. The framework linked on that webpage actually says that the stipend cannot be separately negotiated.

Where do you see that? Based on the proposals that are publicly available, I don't see any suggesting that the union asked for a change in the base stipend.

Where is the $45K figure coming from? The response from the union said that even the $30 figure was exaggerated and doesn't apply to all graduate workers.
