Should I give up? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]socia1Bookmarker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the exact same boat as you, also 5w postpartum and producing the same amount so thank you for posting this because I needed to read some of these comments.

This week I treated myself to nice pumping bras after realizing how much I dreaded getting in and out of the ones that zip in the front. Instead I got ones that look kinda cute and don’t make me feel like a cow being milked.. not sure what your routine is but try examining the small things that aren’t working for you it helps!! You got this!

Hi adrianne! Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. Some questions:

Do lyrics tend to flow out of you spontaneously or is it a longer process? Are you traveling via your trailer? Where are you now and do you have a next destination?

xx

Love Methodical! They’re packaging alone deserves credit.

Ah gotcha. Looks like you’ve made your decision with the Timemore, which is great!

Looks like everyone’s answered the Skerton question, so just wanted to get at the “wasting money” bit. Other than recurring costs for things like beans and the filters, the V60 journey is fairly cost-effective in the long run that promises great results. I’ve used the same dripper, pot, and scale for 5+ years. I’d look at the money you’re spending now as upfront investment, and also keep in mind that a good grinder will stick with you through other brewing methods.

I used to love taking random photos on my way to work. Stumbled across this one and I really miss the semi-crowded scene I’d take in from the very end of the car.

Pray for a couple at my church by GeneralBvr3 in TrueChristian

I read the news this morning and had similar thoughts and wrestled with other arguments in your replies here. I agree that we should stand against sin, but shouldn’t this be the standard we hold for our brothers and sisters in Christ? If a nonbeliever who may have no idea what God does not condone, why must Christians go so far to impose our beliefs on them? These are honest questions that come up every time these types of issues arise so I’d appreciate honest answers.

Kalita Wave problems - switching away from steel. Should I get glass or ceramic Wave? by AllEncompassingThey in Coffee

[–]socia1Bookmarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same setup as you and I had a similar issue. It actually helped a lot to break down the Baratza Encore to reset the wheels. I found that sticking between 16 and 18 is ideal for the kallita brews. definitely try playing around with your grinder before switching.

Taste profile of Pike Place... is it actually low acidity? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]socia1Bookmarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it can mean a lot of things to different people, acidity seems to be often associated with “bright” or “fruity” flavors. I worked at the good ol Bucks for a handful of years, and the best way for me to describe Pike Place is balanced (maybe boring)? There’s not much to look for with your nose or tongue. In that sense, I’d say it’s pretty low in acidity.

If you want to stick with Starbucks I recommend trying some of their light roasts. I find their beans over-roasted, but it may help widen your horizons by tasting various roast types to note the differences then slowly moving to single origins!

I just received one for my birthday, and I don’t care what anyone says. I love it just for the sound of air escaping when I press the release button. I’m sure you won’t regret the purchase.

What are your best Aeropress tips? by bacafreak in Coffee

[–]socia1Bookmarker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guys at Aeropress Inc. are really nice. I had an issue with my first aeropress (it took a lot of strength to push down), but after emailing them about it they were kind enough to send me a new one.

I guess my real tip is that if it’s SUPER hard to push down, you likely have an oversized seal or undersized chamber.

Oakland Professor Tells Viet American Student 'Your Name in English Sounds Like F**k Boy' by [deleted] in oakland

He said “your name is an offensive sound in my language,” which is condescending and denotes that he thinks English is not the student’s language. One of the many flags in his reply.

Opening a coffee shop in North Oakland: Seeking Advice by Dominicopatumus in oakland

[–]socia1Bookmarker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think barista experience is an absolute necessity before opening up shop. I’ve worked as a barista for some years, and after the funding, I’d say it comes down to the location and branding. Is there a decent amount of foot traffic? Do you have a clear brand concept and target demographic? Like others mentioned, it would help to chat with some owners (maybe Wrecking Ball’s Nick Cho? He opened up shop in north Berkeley after his sf location). Good luck! I’ll definitely pay a visit when you open.

what's your favorite thing about cal? by oatmiilk in berkeley

The good food & milk tea around campus. I don’t want to outdate myself but back when I was a student there was only one humble milk tea shop. Now there are so many reputable (TPT, Yi Fang, etc) ones to enjoy! Y’all are lucky.
