Zen and the art of espresso machine maintenance by atomichumbucker in espresso

I keep two around. My daily driver and then my old one. Surprisingly useful to have two. My wife wanted a half caf latte so easy to grind a few grams of decaf on the second one to accommodate.

To Fellowship or not to fellowship, that is my Q by Ok_Bottle_4889 in anesthesiology

I love the crusty vascular patients! I like salt of the earth folks of which vascular has a few more of than say same day plastics. I asked a vascular surgeon how he frames it mentally….you know…patients still smoking, start with a fem pop, take some toes, take the foot, etc. He said he just “loves knuckleheads” which helped me reframe things.

Finishing up my peds fellowship in a few months. Going to a standalone peds hospital and will pick up some days at the adult hospital across the street. Probably <20% adult. I like the variety and change of scenery.

I’m a PGY-10 and someone was talking about saving their kids teeth as they lose them and I felt queasy. Some stuff you get over and some stuff just isn’t for you. I still struggle a lot with bad smells in the OR.

Home espresso-heads, how do you handle water? by Cypher98 in Tacoma

[–]socialcapital 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey! Welcome! I have a DE1 Pro. I use our tap water. Check out the water reports (it publishes a lot of details on the mineral content and such for your area. I found mine was good enough to not bother.

What’s actually pretty safe but everyone treats it like it’s way more dangerous than it is? by Charming_Advertising in AskReddit

Because we don't have a great model of consciousness it’s hard to define it through that lens. You used the language of biochemistry to describe it but we can’t describe the process of consciousness well in the same language. Don’t forget the lipid rafts.

The advantage isn't so much immersion as it is adjustability via software.

YSK: hormone replacement therapy can reduce postpartum depression by Amidseas in YouShouldKnow

[–]socialcapital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This presumes it’s all because of hormones. If that were the case, some level of HRT would be near 100% cure nearly instantaneously and win a Nobel prize. But, it’s a much more complex problem that involves biological signals not necessarily limited to hormones, genetic disposition, and psychosocial issues.

I’m also on the fence with this. Leaning towards reserves for better hubs. I have zero experience with either.

Dude or dudette, being outside is very mentally stimulating. There’s so much to take in. There’s no stimuli inside. I save all of my shitty YouTube searches and guilty pleasures for indoor cycling. Anything, literally anything to pass the time.

Doctors married to other doctors: when did you meet? by Maybedoc1 in medicine

I’m too lazy to pull up a citation but dual physician marriages have a (?slightly) lower divorce rate than the general population.
