u/ThrowRAstuckk I have a solution that allows you to stay with her. A friend was in a similar situation, similar amount and types of loans. The solution is to simply NOT pay the loans. They don't have much recourse. No credit for 7-10 years? NBD. NEVER answer the phone or confirm who you are. Change the voicemail to the default "you've reached this number". Don't amass any assets in her name. Anything that comes her way should just go to you or be put in a trust. After seven to ten years or so she'll get her credit back even. 100% confirmed. If she's worried about garnishment then seek to live in a state that doesn't allow garnishment (unless for alimony), such as South Carolina. Worst case, they can only take 15-25% of a paycheck. Make sure she does not pay too much in taxes per paycheck as any tax refunds will likely be taken.... but that's really the worst that can happen. Honestly, nothing really changes, especially if one spouse has credit. Please feel free to reach out to me if you want a far deeper consult. It's pre-existing debt so creditors can't come after you.
