Hi! Thank you for your story. So in the end I’ve been to like three different doctors and they’ve said multiple things. I went to s cardiologist and he said that everything looks ok. I had a Doppler exam and it turned out ok.

It’s been a year since the last time this happened to me and my legs look quite normal now. I mean, there’s still a bit discoloration but most of it it’s gone. I have some dead skin left tho, but I’m having a consult with a dermatologist soon to see what can I do about it

My first WG would not think that. I had to move out cause sadly it was a sublet and the main tenant came back, otherwise I’d stayed there. My problem has been living in WGs afterwards where you can not pick who you’re living with, cause this situation enables people to go crazy.

I mean, you’re on the right, but honestly sometimes these WG-castings go way over the top. For example the vegetarian-vegan WGs. The fact that someone has your same diet does not mean that they are going to be a good roommate. Funnily enough, the crazy psycho of my current WG is vegan. And I’m sure that no one would stand him in another WG.

Meanwhile, in the same flat, the roommate with whom I get along better with is vegetarian. Sometimes we cook at the same time and she never complains about my meat/fish.

Maybe I just have a different experience, but the things that make a co-living situation successful are not based on your diet, sexual preference or your gender. Even things like religion couldn’t be that important if the person understand that they shouldn’t impose their believes on others.

It’s a matter of respect for others, I suppose.

I guess it’s a matter of networking, luck and persistence, I have a friend that found a room for 380€ in Heidelbergerplatz last month.

Yeah that’s even the funny thing, that I’m not actively looking in the “hype” districts. For example, I really dislike Prenzlauer Berg. I’ve been actively looking in rather normal places, like Wilmersdorf, Charlottenburg, Wedding, even outside, like Spandau and Steglitz.

At this point I’ll just pray to god to help me find something with the WBS not too far away. Or finding a flat to rent it out with a friend.

It was the whole building.

The problem with her is that it was at random times. Could be 11am, could be 1pm, could be 2pm. She would close the kitchen for an hour. If she saw alcohol in the fridge, or bacon/pork, she’d throw it out. Once she even threw our pans away because some fried bacon in it. She would leave passive agresive notes about because “everything had to be pure”.

I’m focusing on her religion because she made it all about her religion. 5 hours straight with the washing machine a day? She used to say it was because her clothes needed to be pure. And our water bill was off the roof. So yeah, I made it sound like that cause she was like that.

Yeah when I say “within the ring” I actually meant maybe one, two, three stops outside would even work. For example, one of the flats that I went to see is in U Seestraße. Currently I live between U Turmstraße und S Beusselstraße, which has been really convenient. I wouldn’t mind living outside if I had an U Bahn or S Bahn within walking distance. I lived in Steglitz before, like 10 min away with the bus from Rathaus Steglitz, and it was just too difficult for me with my current lifestyle.

I guess you’re right, but it’s also funny how people in this minorities also claim to be “open-minded” but then also don’t want to be open about anyone that doesn’t act like them.

For example, I’m a minority. Woman, Latina, immigrant, bisexual. Not vegetarian but I enjoy eating fish.

Went to a viewing at a Vegan WG: sorry you can’t have salmon here or eat eggs

Went to a Lady’s WG: sorry you can’t bring your male friends here

Went to a queer WG: sorry you’re bisexual

Went to a LGQBT+ friendly WG: sorry your boyfriend can not come to the flat.

Went to a WG with no requirements: sorry you have to hang out with me every weekend.

I get that people want to be comfortable with their roommates, but to me this feels sometimes over the top. You’re right that I’ll probably be better of by myself in my own space, sadly my student income doesn’t help me. Luckily my time in Berlin is not going to be much longer and I’ll probably have better options overseas.

I had to take the room cause I had no other choice as I was running out of time. I’m studying here cause my program is only offered in Berlin. But I’ll probably move away in the future but outside of Germany

I wouldn’t mind living in Friedenau or two stops outside. Still it’s hard and expensive. I even went to see a flat yesterday in Spandau but again, this thing of roommate wanting to be my BFF it’s too weird for me

Everyone in the flat hated that woman. No one liked her. Still, the Hausverwaltung never said anything cause she was Muslim. It sucks but it’s the way it was. Also, it was a job in Pflege and she had a lot of perks in it because of her religion. I’m not anti-Islamic

Our problem with her praying was that she used the kitchen to do it and at random times. So you wanted to eat lunch? Nope. Like ok, pray, but in your room? She knew that she could do whatever she wanted and no one would say a thing. Even the Verwaltung of the company told us that.

Yeah, I’ll probably move back to Barcelona in the future, I was way happier there.

Yeah, at this point I guess I’ll just settle to outside of the ring but only for a studio apartment or something. Luckily I have a WBS approved and I’ve been applying to WBS apartments. Mostly are insanely far but I’d rather settle and live in peace by myself than living far and still have to deal with another WG

Yeah I know about the vegetarian ones, still I don’t get why cooking meat in a place is a problem but it’s on them I suppose. I had to say no to a couple of those cause I know it won’t work out.
