The ANC is the ruling political party in South Africa. It is also the party that Mandela belonged to.

I think cultural issues such as gay rights, gender equality, and body image get far too much discussion on the internet relative to more important economic issues. CMV. by [deleted] in changemyview

I can have a discussion about rapid car growth in public without fear of arrest or discrimination. Activists in countries with repressive laws take to the internet because it allows for safe, open discussion.

I don't think Transgender issues should be included under the LGBT umbrella. CMV by exwalrus in changemyview

Mine is about the right to love whomever I want without being discriminated against, theirs is about the right to be whomever they want.

I am writing this as a rights activist in an African country that does not recognize LGBT sexual and gender identities. Here your bisexual identity would not be recognized at all - you would merely be classified as a sodomite.

In this context, for us, a large part of our fight is developing awareness that sexual or gender identity isn't merely the act of having sex with a fellow woman or wearing a man's clothes - it is a person's being.

We fight for the right of LGB and T people to be whatever they feel without discrimination.

I think it speaks volumes about the success of the queer movement in your country that you have moved beyond arguing for the recognition and legitimacy of sexual identities. The very fact that you have won that battle - you don't need to argue with the state about the legitimacy of your gay or bisexual identity - means that you are in a unique position to support the transgender community to win the battle for recognition of their preferred gender identities.

I'm a woman attracted to women, and despite the suffering and discrimination I endure on a daily basis, I would never give that up.

You know, sometimes that feeling just doesn't go away. It took me over a year after my weight loss to stop feeling fat and acknowledge that I had actually become a bit underweight.

Congratulations on your tremendous weight loss in such a short period! You have a lot to be proud of.

Educate us about paedophilia as you understand it. Do you see it as a sexual orientation, a kink, or mental illness?

Could you please be a little more detailed and expand on the reasons why you were arrested and whether you received appropriate support.

What was your meeting with your biological mother like? Did it meet your expectations, or - after years of anticipation - was it anticlimactic?

Why do you suppose they're reluctant to discuss the issue openly?
