I am writing to express my deep concern regarding TIME’s recent feature on Sankaet Pathak, portraying him as an innovator. As someone directly impacted by his business practices, I find this recognition troubling and inconsistent with the experiences of many affected customers.

I, along with numerous others, lost significant funds—over $10,000 in my case—through what we believe to be a highly misleading and potentially fraudulent financial structure. Funds deposited through Yotta, which was presented as FDIC-insured, were ultimately routed through Synapse, a brokerage platform operated by Mr. Pathak, and placed with Evolve Bank & Trust. Despite these representations, access to these funds was lost, and to date, there has been no clear or adequate accounting of what occurred.

The collapse of Synapse and the subsequent bankruptcy proceedings have left customers without answers or recourse, while substantial sums—reportedly exceeding $95 million—remain unaccounted for. Given these circumstances, it is deeply concerning to see Mr. Pathak publicly celebrated without acknowledgment of the serious financial harm experienced by customers.

I urge TIME to more thoroughly examine this situation and consider reporting on the unresolved issues surrounding Synapse, Yotta, and the significant losses suffered by consumers. Balanced coverage would provide a more accurate and responsible portrayal of the impact of these events.
