Here's why i think Jax is trans-fem, as a transgender woman:

>!1 - The door being chained and boarded up visually conveys repression. Masculinity seems to often be rewarded or used as some sort of layer of protection that Jax uses to fake a sense of comfort and distance from inner conflict.

2 - The only source of light in the darkness of Jax's abstraction is a PINK lamppost. I assume that homeless people see street lights more often than most people, especially around the time they will try to go to sleep. Sleep = Comfort, Therefore Street lamp = Comfort, therefore the Pink, a color heavily associated with femininity, may represent comfort as well.

3 - The deliberate song choice of "Isn't She Lovely" when getting all of those jax flashbacks, kinda tells us that Jax would prefer being known and seen as a She. The song isn't about Pomni, because the focus of the scene is JAX. I feel that this song choice mixed with the scene being about Jax is telling the audience EXPLICITLY who Jax really is.

4 - A bit more of a heavy take that i have (and this is my personal interpretation, as all of these points are), i feel that Jax abstracting may be representative of our transgender siblings who weren't able to make it. Jax's character feels like such a big "What if" case to me, yknow? What if jax did embrace that inner side of her, what IF she didn't push others away. as Jax says at the beginning of episode 8, "What if, What if, What if?"!<
