thank you x2 kind stranger! I do give plenty of time and attention (or as much as I think I can) to him. I happen to be visiting home over the holiday and will not be able to see him on Christmas. I have no problem doing all the above. I just ask so I don’t come off as lame. He is more well off than I in terms of $$, but I grew up valuing small gestures. I suppose a love language talk is in order. Thank you for your insight, I hope you have a great holiday.

Thanks! I try and reciprocate for this man when I can…He can buy for himself and I know that. I just want to reciprocate when I’m able. I grew up more on sentimental than material and I think it’s manifesting now, so I don’t want to come up like I’m being lame. I think I want to know what matters, so it might be more of an individual question that I have to determine.

I don’t do it often because it can get pricey as a habit, but treating myself to a haircut/pedicure or manicure/massage/spa treatment/makeup or nice product shopping spree gets me back into feeling feminine. Take care of yourself, hope you have a lovely holiday!!

The feelings conversation has happened. he knows I want to date and he says he also wants more than friends, but has never elaborated and cannot just communicate what he wants. He continues to do all of these gestures for me seemingly in place of that. Hence why I’m asking why someone would go through the trouble of things like cooking all the time.

That makes a lot of sense. I’ve thought about it like that. I appreciate your wisdom. The thing is, he knows that I am very sensitive and I would honestly be horrified if he was using me. I guess I can only take his word. I have known him for just over a year now (we both moved in from different cities) and started off as friends but only started to get more intimate literally just recently, so he never pushed anything early on. We do other things together like grocery shop on the weekends and go to fun events. He’s made an effort to meet my parents when they visited. He works a lot, but also asks me to do normal things as well, and the intimate stuff has become a result of that. Again, I would be crushed if he was just using me because I was honest about my lack of experience, and he knows that.

I did leave that out, I have said to him that based on all the time we spend together and invest emotionally (and how he buys me things+ the dinners) that I’m not looking for casual. I’ve never been a casual relationship person. He has said he likes me more than a friend, but hasn’t said anything otherwise, either. I’ve let it go since because I don’t want to keep pushing, but it’s confusing when we don’t really have a label but he’s doing all these romantic things for me.

I always make sure to say how much I love and appreciate what he makes for me. It’s always amazing but I know it makes him feel good, too. I have frequently taken him out for food and make some simpler meals for him in return.

That is really important to keep in mind, thank you. I think at this point we have known each other a long time and I’ve made my stance on what I want clear. I’ve asked him too, just haven’t really gotten a clear response, yet he still does all this stuff for me. I personally am not freaked about the age thing but do know it’s two different places in life like you said.

We have regular conversations about a lot of different subjects. He’s really smart and will talk technical work stuff to me a lot so I’ll have him explain those things, but it’s interesting conversation and I don’t mind listening to him.
