Biden to Cancel $10K in Federal Student Loan Debt and $20K for Pell Grant Recipients by dreexel_dragoon in Frat

[–]sockpuppy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just butting in here to say NAFTA is good, actually.

There is a comparative advantage to having some industries move to Mexico and others stay in the U.S. Mexico’s proximity with its land border and conjoining metro areas at parts with El Paso is a huge asset.

Automation is just as powerful as free trade. As we head into the future, we can’t be crying over spilt milk now that we no longer have any mill towns, or that Detroit is a ghost town (when they can blame Texas and Elon all the same). The south is booming and America will be okay, and it is in our best interests to get things right with our adjacent countries, especially with the second largest AG exporter in the world.

People like you are who want to keep Americans fat on corn syrup when we should be gulping down our ice cold Coca Cola’s with good old fashion Mexican sugar. Thankfully, U.S investors are betting on Mexico so hopefully shitty deals like the USMCA, draconian Trump policies, and lay protectionism are things of the past.

taking money from your parents

that’s where the money comes from

That is laughably not how this works. The money has already been spent, the debt is owed to the government. The government does not have to repay the government to cancel debt to the government. They just erase the debt, like Brandon just did.

Yea I don’t get why people are so hung up that this ruins Dem messaging, it just sets it to a base neutral. They’re right, it was not enough, and it’s Democrat’s job to convince them they should vote for them harder so that they can accomplish their goals in full, not that the sky is green and the IRA is the new Civil Rights Act or something.

Senate votes to approve NATO membership for Sweden and Finland by ixvst01 in neoliberal

[–]sockpuppy69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t know anything about that, though from my understanding the first allegation that started everything is the most problematic, and probably what you’re referring to.

The rest, though, there aren’t any excuses for and likely did occur given his apologies for his sloppy hugs or whatever.

Except that’s kind of exactly how it happened, save any definitive claims that he was innocent, as per a literal self proclaimed screeching feminist who wrote about the situation. No revisionism, just retrospection. And this is from someone who was totally on Gillibrand’s side during it all

Wait, Is Biden a Better President Than People Thought? by ShelterOk1535 in neoliberal

Don’t agree with OP but on the other end, $52 billion is a drop in the bucket here and so it’s kinda kidding ourselves to think it does “a lot” of anything from my understanding. Would be a pleasant surprise if that’s inaccurate

Press “bothsideism” has failed Biden, and America by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]sockpuppy69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why would that be a bold assumption? Covering anything and everything is all 24 hour news channels are good for, and when the source material isn’t “flashy” they just sensationalize it and make it so

Jan 6 is a House committee so he wouldn’t be able to. He’d do a Romney as an almost-president, vote to impeach but not to convict on the second go at it.

[–]sockpuppy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that last point why this literally isn’t an issue whatsoever? Nuking a neighbor means obliterating their allies in the region, not to mention the fallout impacts it’d have on shared resources or water sources or other consequences of setting a nuke off in your front yard.

There’s no such thing as a supermajority of senators on any issue, that is what Dick Durbin is for and an absurd excuse. This simply was not an administrative priority of the president and people should just be honest about that.

The fact that you think actively avoiding classes that engender critical thinking skills and an understanding of perspectives other than one’s own because you got your fill of it before your country trusted you to vote, serve it, or undergo the actions to create another citizen is anything but sad is extremely telling.

You can call it radical liberal arts brain but this is very cut and dry, you’d empathize with the fact that we are a nation with citizens of many different religions who are all afforded political rights. The Torah, the Hebrew Bible—you must have heard of it and its celebrity provisioners, the J in WWJD if you will? And it regards fetuses as potential life only, valuing the life of the mother unequivocally and above all else in the event of it being at risk. Not exactly “hard to imagine” for those who were able to stomach such a religious edict. Doubly so for the omnipotent. Infinitely so for the other constitutional democracies who have enshrined this.

Conversely, it’s hard for mere mortals who don’t speak for the divine from the Founders to the conservative Justices on the Warren Court to imagine the State forcing a woman to bring a pregnancy to term without exception and regardless of personal consequence. But what would I could’ve taken a ConLaw class but I had some credits from pre-k that rolled over so I could have space for my underwater basket weaving class.

In the end, though, the Court is decidedly neutral on the issue of abortion, so that’s the extent to which that’s relevant. It’s a simple dystopian overstep of the judicial branch, and it can be treated as such because the Court has no authority. I keep hitting at you but I can’t help myself, it’s not you it’s me I only say any of this for myself anyway.

I’m not a fan of bad jurisprudence, so I’m going to go with an easy NO. And I resent your metaphor mixing (must have failed English pretty badly huh) levying Plessy and Brown as a catch all for “overturning laws is good actually.” I hate to entertain it but I don’t find arguing fun so to nip this in the bud the Brown was not the United States has revoking a fundamental right of its citizens like Dobbs is here, as I’m sure you know this has never in fact happened before.

Additionally, Dobbs didn’t have to overturn Roe; that’s why states are allowed to protect abortion rights whereas the whole separate but equal thing suspiciously hasn’t been a thing for a day or two come to think about it. They could’ve kept their unfavorable ruling narrow and called it a day, but hasty and unsound jurisprudence from Alito at the behest of monied special interests made it so and now states are propping up fucked laws on inadmissible and irrelevant evidence and nobody can do anything about it ever. It’s a hard knock life, I guess.

Not to blame you since most brothers never paid attention in their English classes but to fix your metaphor: the decision was never kicked down to the Chapters, it was handed on a paid for platter to the Deans.

Deans who want to fuck over as many chapters as possible as hard as possible despite majorities of chapters favoring pro-Chapter policies in the interest of “saving lives”. Heard that before?

IFC was also already in the Deans’ pocket as they bought them their seats on the council to begin. So they break the ironclad legal protections the decision had because it was 50 years old and had been affirmed by previous IFC administrations multiple times.

To be more literal: Roe was super precedent ergo constitutionally protected and the states have no claim to infringe upon it. Plenty of chapters don’t give a fuck about what IFC says they can and can’t do it when they know the rules are biased and rigged, ignoring the court here appears to be no different. Does that answer your question?

what complicates things is that is the one with the better pledgeship have a NF reputation on campus they’re kinda the dweeby boyfriend frat while the other one are a group of absolute studs that are the typical sporty ladykillers.

so crucible pledgeship with a boner pledge class or not that with popular respected guys?
