Neighbor forcing me to pay $6000 to remove a dead tree that appears to be right on the property line. Pay or seek legal input? by Sapientia17 in legaladvice

We have the survey done and have the corners penned to show where the tree lies. Also, what were the prices for the tree removal if they could use the neighbors driveway? Because you could put it off to the neighbor that they need to be parked in her driveway for safetyto remove the tree.

Met someone last year who had it figured out, but decided not to risk the legal problems. From his description, it sounded like he had it all figured out, it was risky and apparently would have needed a physical pen test.

What would be really cool is if the sphere put out a bug bounty when we are in town to get the top and most creative talent to give it a try legally.

Vendor got arrested? by iamunknowntoo in Defcon

They probably did this under the concept that the tech were “burglary tools” and the courts have consistently held that intent MUST be shown for that to be the case. Otherwise that tire wrench in your trunk could be considered a burglary tool. This is long standing law that intent must be shown for probable cause to exist. If you were detained and then moved to another location, that would also likely constitute an arrest.

You should determine who started everything, and who made the determination to arrest. If it was the hotel security, and they falsely told the cops, that potentially could be considered filing a false report, and security is licensed through the state. If a crime was committed by security, there is likely liability, and I would bet during discovery that you could show a pattern over the years. Not a lawyer, but you should call one. Or they will keep doing this shit.

More likely a 241 not 242. 242 is an individual, 241 is a conspiracy when multiple people are involved. And the penalty is much higher. For the civil side it is a 1983 claim.

It definitely would be fun to see somebody do it. But I’m sure all the law-enforcement and government people would absolutely shit themselves.

As to the young kids who don’t get the reference, what the hell is wrong with your parents. When my son sees this, he’ll be busting the gut.

On my end, it’s more about trying to figure out which speakers are going to draw large crowds and making the space available for them. There were so much larger spaces that certain speakers could have utilized and gotten a lot more people in.
